Q:Having a tough time getting the adapter to screw onto the threads of the semi-rigid duct. It keeps slipping off...or the threads end up compressing, producing resistance to the adapter...or the duct starts to tear.

worked great
after struggling to get flex duct around my oval duct on the wall, I searched and found this adaptor. Slipped on the duct, tightened clamp, screwed flex duct on to bottom piece, snapped together and done. I did take the time to trim the flex foil and wire so no loose edges to catch lint.

Works Great!
The product is great. The only hard part for me was the install just because of the metal vent, that goes outside, not being the same shape as the oval adaptor. When the dyer was first installed it was done so in a very poor manner with LOTS of vent tape. This is a MUCH more secure solution. See before & after picture.

Worked PERFECTLY!
Purchased the oval to round adaptor and had the dryer running within 30 minutes. I secured it with the clamp it came with in the box and used dryer tape to help secure the duct hose in place. Additionally, I bought an elbow adaptor and secured it with a clamp to the dryer itself to put less strain on the duct hose. I also used dryer tape to secure the duct hose to the elbow even though it wasn’t entirely necessary once I moved the dryer closer to the wall. No leaks so far and it’s working well for me.

"5 minute easy installation" . . . . NOT! This was a real horror show for me. Although the dime...
"5 minute easy installation" . . . . NOT! This was a real horror show for me. Although the dimensions seemed correct, this thing would not go outside or inside of my oval duct. After much struggle, including cutting both thumbs, I had to break it to force it inside. Then I had to screw it in there so it would not fall out. Installation was a real pain.
Frustrating and difficult to install but I know my vent might have been different from others for some reason. Go to the store and try it first. If it fits you're golden, otherwise look elsewhere.

A must have for 5 inch oval to 4 inch round installation. Takes a little coaxing to squeeze it into the vent pipe but easy overall. Dryer hose screws in to the adapter snugly.
