.445" Why the manufacturers never list the pin size is beyond belief. When they respond to an inquiry, they give the wrong answer.

This design is probably over 100 years old. This is a classic way of hanging a gate. It comes with the nuts and washers needed to tighten it down to whatever you are going to tighten it to. They run smoothly up and down the threads of the bolt to wherever you choose to position them to hold your gate. It's nicely galvanized or zinc-plated. You're going to need a 5/8" hinge strap to complete your hinge. I have an area where I hide my garbage cans all week as the HOA requests. Take them out Wednesday mornings for pickup. Used this hinge part on the gate.

Tough! Sturdy! Simple and easy to install! I have been setting up gates since I was a small child on my grandfather’s farm. The bolt hooks make quick work of setting and adjusting tube gates. The Zinc platings fend off rust and corrosion so you can have peace of mind. Installing the bolt only takes a couple of minutes once you drill through your gate post. Course threading makes adjustments simple and quick with a couple of basic tools. We have livestock on the farm and given their heavy weights pressed against the gates at times, I’ve never seen a 3/4” bolt hinge bend or break. Great quality!!

This gate bolt is functional, not decorative. The threads are good, and it is strong enough so that 2 of them will support a medium to large sized gate. The zinc coating seems to be pretty thick. There's 10 inches of usable bolt, i.e. it will fit a post up to 10" thick. The bolt itself is 3/4" diameter, the pintle is about 11/16" diameter. The only strap I could find that matches this is the Everbilt 14 inch, which has a hole that's about .710". However, the pintle is really crooked, and it won't install into the strap at a straight angle. I had to grind the pintle down so that it would not be at an angle. If there was a strap with a 3/4 inch hole, it would fit without grinding. Overall quality is good enough for a utility gate, and I'm sure it will hold up over time.

This is a review of the Everbilt 5/8” X 8” Zinc plated bolt hook I plan this for indoor use so the zinc plated metal will work very well and look good. One end has the hook feature, that will allow the gate that is attached to slide in and back out easily. This has many other uses besides using for a gate. I am going to use it to store some heavier items up higher in my shed. The Zinc plated will be great for the humidity changes in my shed. This is made of steel and has a weight capacity of 150 pounds. The threaded end has 2 bolts and washers provided and allow flexibility on the distance away from the hook you can attach your gate or other item. 5/8” is very thick and just the size I needed. Heavy duty bolt hooks and hinge straps
I’m reviewing both the 3/4 bolt hook and the 14 inch hinge straps by Everbilt as they are usually bought and used together as a unit. I got these to hang the gates I built at my farm house upstate. Both the bolt hook and the hinge straps are super heavy duty. These are in no way ‘decorative’ and were made to fully carry the weight of heavy gates. The hinge straps are rated for a working load of 150 lbs, the bolt hooks are rated for a working load of 200 lbs. So yeah, not decorative. I was te-reading the manufacture’s description for the hinges and it says ‘decorative’; I had to giggle out loud. The hinges weigh 2 pounds a piece. Heavy, thick galvanized metal. I suppose if you think heavy-duty, thick metal, galvanized for the elements as ‘decorative’, then more power to ya! The one thing I wish Everbilt made are the double-strap hinges. It would make hanging the gates from the center so much more convenient and would allow for the gate to swing both ways (giggle). The bolt hooks are fully threaded and so you can fully adjust them in the field. The bolt hooks conveniently came with nuts and washers. The 10 inch bolts I got was the right size for 4x4 pressure treated post; with some wiggle room for inside gate adjustments and room on the opposite side of the post for the washer/nut adjustments as well. I glue laminated 2x6’s on the front and back of the 4x4’s to stiffen them up and give the posts more of a presence. Keep in mind that the bolts and hinges come with differing diameter bolts and hinge holes. Be sure to check that they fit each other. The 10 inch bolt hooks are 3/4”, and they fit the 14 inch strap hinges perfectly. The 14 inch strap hinges have three square pre-punched holes that will accept 3/8 inch carriage bolts with those round button ends and square notch for an easy install. Overall, I am very happy with the Everbilt hardware; they’re a good quality and super heavy duty. Made to hang gates, and not just to look pretty either! Highly recommended.

The 3/4 inch x 12 inch zinc plated bolt hook is ideal for hanging a heavy gate in a pasture fence for example or similar hinge application. It works together with a hinge strap sold separately, which I have shown in the pictures. The bolt is inserted in a post up to about 9 and 1/2 inches in diameter since the threaded portion of the bolt is roughly 11 inches and the washers and nuts take up an inch and a half. The quality seems reasonable for the heavy duty nature of the intended purpose.

Unfortunately you can only buy this online. This is a 2 part hinge. There is no way of matching it to the right gate "strap" so you'll have to guess at it. I tried, failed. Returned it to the store. They should sell it as a matched set. Got the right matching set at Dixiline in store.

After replacing the hinges on my yard gate an average of once a year, I decided to go with this heavy duty hinge set , and I believe this will be that last hinge I’ll need. Between the 5/8 inch bolt that forms the post half of the hinge (shown here) and the ¼ inch thick steel the forms the gate portion I don’t see this hinge wearing out anytime soon. The length of the threaded portion also allows for plenty of adjustment for keeping the gate level.

I have used the 3/4" Bolt Hook for another project, and it works great. So, when I needed one for a smaller gate, I chose this. The threading is 8" long (see pic). Adding the 2 nuts and 2 washers, leaves about 6.5" of threading; which works perfectly with a 6x6. I mated it with the 12" Hinge Strap. Both are Double Zinc Plated and both rated for 150 pounds.
