Are the clamps or ones that are smaller in diameter fit to work on an exhaust pipe with surface temperature of more than 700F? They are supposed to hold a surface Exhaust Gas Temperature probe. If not what do you suggest?
Asked by: Roy314
It would attach, but totally inadequate for strength and maintaining a tight fit. Use real exhaust pipe clamps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Strips out before it gets the job done This gear clamp looked like just what I needed to attach the ducting from my bathroom vent fan to the roof vent I had installed. Unfortunately as soon as I tightened it just past snug it started stripping out. The clamp would not tighten anywhere near tight enough to hold the galvanized ducting in place. If you need one of these for anything other than light duty use, I would recommend finding a better one. Made in China.

I finally got this to work by putting it in a vise and making the clip into a convex shape so that the tracks on the clip would bend into the worm gear. This allowed the worm gear to finally hold and did not strip out when I tightened it.

Unfortunately I already purchased 3 of these extremely cheap, terribly made junk that will strip the moment you put any pressure on them. Do not make my mistake.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well... These clamps helped make a difficult project easier. Don't forget to unscrew them enough so they may be slid over the duct before trying to secure it.

Some clamps (when they get near that point where you think you can reef down on it) fail to completely tighten. Instead, they go "click, click, click"and never really grab. Everbilt clamps like this one are different. You can exert a fair amount of pressure and they just keep tightening. I used this clamp to attach a blower-moter fan to a 6-inch flexible pipe HVAC pipe and it worked perfectly.
