Absolutely, that's what I used it for.

What is the load rating? Will it wear on nylon braided rope? What is the safety factor?

Depending on the thickness of rope you use. We are using 1/2" braided most of the time.

Well built solid metal spring clip. It is a bit larger than I expected, but that is understandable with a 340 pound weight load rating and a 7/8 size. It is great for linking substantial chains together. The spring moves easily and creates a large opening to link thick chains together. I have also used these a ring to add several smaller chains and straps into on central area for mounting.

The Everbilt Spring Link has a working load of 340 pounds. I needed this item to attach to the collar of my outside working dogs. They weigh over 100 pounds and can be difficult to control. I attached the spring link to my dog's collar and then attached a sturdy rope to the spring link and this enabled me to easily walk the dog around the pasture. This item is very well made and strong. I expect that it will last a long time.

Well built, heavy duty high capacity spring link, useful for all types of applications from hanging bags while camping to impromptu pulleys in a pinch. We use these on all our bait buckets to keep them attached to the boat and pier in any weather. The zinc plating keeps them from rusting and seizing together. The heavy duty capacity keeps them on their tethers if we drive the boat witht he buckets over the side. These also work great for attaching lengths of chain quickly and make removal super easy. Dimensions are shown in my review pics. I have dozens of these over the years and they all work well. Highly recommended.

This 7/16 inch 4 3/4 inch spring loaded link has many uses. It is zinc plated to resist rust and has 340lb working load rating. You can use it to connect a similar strength chain or for lifting. I often repair water pumping windmill gearboxes and wanted to be able to hang a windmill gearbox from an eyebolt to be able to paint the gearbox. The working load of the link is sufficient for all of my needs. It is a quality product.
