A good quality medium gauge steel decorative hinge whose price point won't break the bank. With a 60 pound load limit PER hinge, these hinges will work with most homestead gates and doors. The hinge has a removable pin that comes in handy when needing to remove the gate without unbolting the hinge. The hinges are thickly coated with paint and won't scar easily.
The two reasons for only a three star rating are first, the mounting holes are not offset but inline which will be subject to wood splitting and second, the mounting holes are square instead of round resulting in less bolt-head to hinge surface contact. I will purchase flat washers and paint them black to resolve this weakness.

Excellent quality hinge. Great for my tall wood gate that was sagging. And very stylish. The plates are thin but look and feel sturdy and unable to bend easily. Very solid.
All the instructions are on the back of the package including the required pilot hole to pre-drill, so be careful when opening the bag.
The pins are solidly inserted into the hinges. The pins can be removed if need be but will require some effort. I used a Hammer and a tapping tool to remove the pin. When re-inserting the pin you will again need to use a hammer or mallet to fully insert the pins.
You get two (2) hinges and twelve (12) lug bolts (6 per bag) . Use 1/2 inch socket wrench to screw the bolts into place.

Perfect pair of hinges for big barn style doors or any rustic looking door or outdoor wooden gate. These strap type hinges are 8 inches in length and 5 inches width. They are about 1/16 of an inch thick. You get two sets of hinges and comes with 2 inch length lag bolt screws. 6 lag bolt screws for each hinge set.
The hinges are heavy duty steel with black color paint coating. Yes, steel as I checked with a magnet. The lag bolts are also black coated and heavy duty size. Best to use a socket wrench than a crescent wrench so that it will not slip off when tightening. I couldn't use the lag bolts cause they were too long and would of come out the other end with its sharp point. I used instead my own nuts and hex head bolts instead and black spray paint to make it match.
I also had to use some WD-40 so that it was less stiff. I think with use it will loosen up more, but giving it a shot of WD-40 or any other type of oil, lithium or grease will help.

Love the new black steel strap hinges for my side gate. I was really in need of a stronger hinge type fixture than those sold in the past. These new steel hinges are not only very attractive, but strong and as durable as it gets. The hinges did need a little lubrication, so I sprayed the hinged assembly with a lubricant, and they move as smooth as butter. I was very impressed with them as soon as they arrived. I even told my sister about them. She had just mentioned a few days earlier about needing new/replacement hardware. I will also be purchasing an additional set so that I have marching hardware on both the side gate, and also the alley gate. Very well designed, and great concept that the screw holes are off-set to avoid splitting the new wood. Highly recommended for Home Depot shoppers, and also DIY'ers like myself.
