Broke During Installation (Twice)
I bought this to replace a sash lock on a wood frame double hung window. The previous lock was part of the original hardware in my house and broke after 30 years of use. This was my first experience looking for a quality replacement as all my other original locks are still going strong.
This hardware matched the original hardware in appearance, but definitely not in quality.
During install, the bottom lip of the recess for the screw head completely detached from the lock while fastening it to the window frame. I made the mistake of thinking this might be user error. Maybe I overtightened.
So, I bought a second one, in white (SKU #590406). I was able to fasten the second one to the window frame without issue, but a piece securing the internal lock mechanism broke off while fastening it the first time.
In both cases, the metal surrounding the pieces that broke off seemed to be very thin. After two different points of failure, it's hard for me to understand how this hardware is still being sold.

I purchased one of these to put on a toddler’s busy board. My son loved moving the lock back and forth; to the point where this broke after a couple of months. The finish looked great, but the longevity of the lock makes me wonder how long it would have lasted on an actual window.

I only used the larger part (with the riveted pivot point). It is not as heavy-duty as the 60+ year old original part that it replaced, but it should work fine in normal service as long as it is not stressed too much.
