Questions & Answers

Can more rods be added to extend the reach past 12 feet?

I am considering buying a second kit and use the rods from that kit to get a reach of 20 feet that I need.
Asked by: TomW
I also ended up buying 2 kits, but it was worth it. Also, I used 22 feet of tube and could insert it myself. I only used the drill on the last 2 feet I inserted each time, until I met with some resistance. Then I would put the drill on the end and try to advance further. I didn't have anyone to help so this is the way I did it. If I went another 2 feet, I added another tube and attached the drill again. I think the tubing would be flopping all around it you try to insert all of the tubes at once with a drill.

Are the plastic extensions flexible? We have two turns in our exhaust pipe.

Asked by: pb
I thing it depends on how spaced out the two turns are and if they are at the beginning of exhaust pipe, if these apply, then it should

How do you attach the rod to a drill?

How do you attach the rod to a drill?
Asked by: Chuck
Take the base of the last pole, simply stick that end fully into the drill bit end of the drill, tighten drill bit end to close snugly around the pole - don't crush the end! This is exactly the same as you would do if you were putting on/changing out a drill bit. Put a piece of duct tape on each connection to keep them from accidentally coming apart (shouldn't happen, but could happen if you turn in the counter clockwise direction), and use drill in only the forward/clockwise direction.

I got a lot of stuff out of my ~20' duct by cleaning it from both ends. The fiberglass poles end up screwed together VERY tightly. It would have been a better design if they could be detached more easily. Perhaps something so simple as a thumb size flat plate on the connections, or a hex collar so you could put a wrench on it. I had to use two pairs of pliers--a small challenge while you are also holding a drill. Regardless, the brush worked well. Dryer on "air dry" cycle cleaned the loose clots out. Unfortunately I was standing in line with the exit stream.... if you have any questions about how to do this, consult YouTube!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes on the gross jobs! Wow! That’s pretty much all I can say. I’m hoping I can add a photo so you can se how much crud came out. Clearly this should have been done A LONG time ago! Hubs is out of town but I was able to take on this job myself. Not particularly easy considering our dryer vents out the roof but this did the trick beautifully!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The dryer duct was filled with lint and the duct... The dryer duct was filled with lint and the duct goes up to the roof and not out a side wall. One mistake was going too quickly at the start, pushing the lint into a blockage instead of cleaning it out. Once I got that removed, it was easy. I bought a 2nd kit to go 20 feet. It is a super device.
