This wax ring would be too thick. The pipe needs to be cut so your flange sits on top of the finished floor, and then the wax ring will sit on top of the flange. Once this is done, you can use a standard wax ring.

Your Closet Flange (metal or plastic ring) should be sitting on top of the finished floor. A standard thickness wax ring is sufficient for most toilet installs, however occasionally there is too much gap between the flange and toilet to seal properly. In that case, the thicker wax ring is called for. You can check the gap by placing a straight-edge across the toilet bottom (next to, but not on the horn), and measuring between straight-edge and china. Next measure the height of your closet flange (metal or plastic ring) from the floor. Subtract the two measurements. The wax ring needs to be thicker than that dimension. The ring will then compress as toilet is lowered into position, molding itself to the china and flange, creating a water and gas-tight seal.

Yes, this product is a good fit with cast iron flanges with a floor that is flush with the old flange.

It won't work. The thickness of the Everbilt extra thick wax ring is 1.25". The cavity from the bottom of the toilet to the roof of the toilet where the wax ring is placed is ¾". If the top of your flange is ½" below the floor, then the total distance from the top of the your flange to the roof the the toilet horn would be ¾"+½" = 1.25". Thus, there would be no compression of the wax. Suggest a set-rite flange extender or a ½" thick spacer mounted on top of your flange to bring the flange up even with the floor.

clean the bottom of toilet and firmly place the new one on use caution when placing it on the bolts

It's always best to use the extra think wax ring to help get a better bond I wish they would stop making the little wax rings they are junk
