Just finished installing yesterday but seems to be working well. Unless you are running the flush pipe directly into an open floor drain, it needs a joint that can be removed if the drain has to be run thru a wall as mine did. That is so it can be unscrewed if the bowl has to be cleaned.

great well water sediment solution
I’ve had it for a few years. I found that an annual replacement of the cartridge it better off than manually cleaning it. I do purge the drain weekly to keep the build up flushed out sooner than later. But the cost of 31 annually to buy a new unit is better for me. It cost 27 with shipping just to order the mesh filter cartridge, a few dollars shy of buying a whole assembly. When I buy the whole assembly I just replace the cartridge, clear canister piece, the o-ring, and the valve. This way I have these three critical parts new again and no concern of failure and possible leaks from wear over time. You cannot get all the small particles out of the mesh screen when cleaning it manually so I find it worth while to just replace and redeem the better water pressure-gpm again.

Purchased this filter to protect the 4 zone valves in my lawn irrigation system. It should fit both 1" and 1¼" pipe. The 1¼" fit seemed loose to me, so I bought bushings and used the 1" fitting. Per the instructions it should NOT be exposed to UV LIGHT, so I bought a trash can and placed it upside down over the sediment filter to protect it from the Florida sun. It would have been nice if a cover was included, considering the purchase price. Finally, the flush valve would have sprayed water under pressure directly at the dirt, so I had to buy a ½" 90º fitting, so that water goes into the bushes, and not into the dirt below the valve. It has only been installed for 4 days, so I will have to see if this helps protect the zone valves over the next year.

This Everbilt Filter was the right fit for my well water filtering needs. I was installing a backflow arrestor and realized sediment which can occasionally come through our line from the well could prevent the arrestor from working correctly. So I installed this filter before the arrestor. Easy install, even easier to maintain. You can see the filter to determine if it needs cleaning. Usually a simple flushing through the 1/2" valve is enough, but the filter is easily removed with a twist for a deeper cleaning if necessary.

I just happen to see this sediment filter on the shelf while I was looking for something else and figured it couldn't hurt do I bought it. I installed a new well pump and this inline sediment filter just before my normal water filter , I ca actual see through the clear plastic case if it has small pebbles or other sediment (that alone is great feature!) but cleaning it even easier all I have to do is turn on the valve at the bottom and water flushes the filter out, that is a awesome feature it takes like ten seconds instead of ten minutes to clean the filter!!!! I assume that with this sediment filter I will not having to change cartridge water filter as often now will also save me money. My normally cartridge water doesn't seem to be filling up with sediment restricting the water flow to my home so I have noticed higher water pressures in my showers compared to before installing this sediment filter.

We are sorry to hear of your issue. If it is clogging quickly, it seems like you have a tremendous amount of sediment in your system. The drain valve must be flushed to remove the sediment from your system. If you would like to call us regarding your application, perhaps there would be a better filter mesh screen for you.

Must read the details. You may want to replace the internal filter screen to match the sediment size you are needing to remove. Otherwise, this works well.

These sediment filters are sufficient for all well systems that generate 1-25 gallons of water per minute. If the concern is the filter element itself, there are other size filters available. The unit comes standard with a 100-mesh screen.

The sediment filter itself was great but the ball valve cracked on first use. Unfortunately had to return and buy a replacement

Please be sure to use a thread sealant approved for use with PVC, and finger tighten the ball valve plus 1 turn. It is very possible that the valve cracked due to overtightening. The smaller the thread size (such as this 1/2" valve), the easier it is to overtighten.

We were experiencing some very fine sand/sediment from our house well. Once we installed this filter the sediment is gone. Easy to install, easy to clean sediment from body. May have saved us drilling deeper or putting in a new well.

      Hi Betsy,
The sediment filter is not made to be trapped inside the screen, it is trapped inside the clear bowl, then the clean water flows "into" the screen and out the other end of the cap. You will then have to manually drain the clear bowl with the ball valve. If this is not happening for you, please call us at 844-251-7446.

On our well system, I plumbed this in after the pressure tank and the whole house shut-off valve, replacing the sediment filter I used to have that used disposable cartridges. I've got this sediment filter's flush valve hooked up to a garden hose, and I'm having so much fun purging the filter chamber of the small grains of silt/sediment trying to get into my plumbing. With this puppy, that's not happening! Because our old sediment filter's cartridges used to get so clogged, our water pressure was horrible. Now, I've just about got to put in a wall grip in the shower ;)

Didn’t leak - until it needed cleaned.
Installed on well water system as a pre-filter for a whole house filter. It worked perfectly, getting the large particles out first. The first time I had to remove the filter to clean it, it started leaking from the threads after reassembly. You cant get a replacement gasket/o-ring. So I used pipe dope. You cant use thread tape as they state it will crack. (Oversize vs cheap plastic) The dope slowed the leak to a drip. I’ll find a different unit to install that is servicable.
