I have left the bin in garage couple of times and it did not show any adverse effect. I put it out with my yard waste every other week for curb side pick up. I have not put it outside in my yard,

The store doesn't carry replacement filters. However, if you order them at the store, the filters will be sent to the store, where you can pick them up and the shipping will be free.

Can this go in the freezer?

I know why the user asked. I'm setting up a Bokashi composting system, and the idea is to keep it airtight. So instead of opening up the Bokashi container to air every time you have scraps to put into it, you use a separate compost collection container and keep it in the refrigerator or freezer until you have a bunch, then dump it into the fermenting Bokashi container. I'm making mine with two 5-gallon buckets and gamma seals. With Bokashi, the idea is to minimize/draw off liquid, so you don't add anything to the compost. I inherited two of these ECO compost collectors from the last tenant who lived in my house, so I'm going to try them and see. The worst thing that will happen is they will crack in the freezer.

Can this be stored (& used) outside? We don't have room in the kitchen.

A few things to consider: Will rain get in through the top? Not good. Top closes, but doesn't lock. Varmints can easily open it. I keep mine under the kitchen sink. Easy access.

You can compost almost everything in your home that you consume, and anything that decomposes, except for meat, dog and human waste. For instance you can compost paper napkins, sugar envelopes, coffee paper filters, and the cardboard roll from you paper towels and toilet paper broken up in pieces. Once you start composting you will find out all the things you can add to your compost bin as you learn.
