doesn't have a flat bottom
a large part of the bottom is recessed and can't make contact with a flat cooktop.

I was pleased with the quality of the pots but...
I was pleased with the quality of the pots but very disappointed when I used them. It took forever to get the water to boil. I don’t know why but it was probably 2-3 times longer just to boil water for one pound of spaghetti (not a lot of water). I’m not sure I will use it.

I have been searching for a basic pasta cooker insert that was fairly priced. I don't plan to use it daily, so I didn't need one of the expensive ones I saw. This 8 qt. stainless multicooker fit the bill. It does exactly as it states - allowing me to easily steam vegetables or cook pasta without struggling to drain a heavy pot over the sink. I've only used it a few times, as I've had it about 3 weeks.
The vented lid is nice for allowing some steam to escape. The pot isn't a superior thick metal like my Revere ware stainless, but then the price reflects that too.
I would recommend this product.
