A:Â Dear TomG,
We understand your concern and appreciate the opportunity to assist you!
The presence of multiple Pressure Gauges are meant to help general consumers more easily determine the life of the filter and when to replace the filter(s). We tried to make our units as easy as possible to install given that they are standard home filtration systems. We recommend replacing all the filters once the pressure decreases by 10-15 psi from the initial pressure reading.

Q:Does the filters remove radium?
by|Apr 7, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A:Â Dear Bt23,
Thank you for reaching out to Express Water!
This Heavy Metal KDF 85 Filter is capable of reducing Radium, however, it is not a filter specifically designed to target Radium. Other heavy metals in the incoming water quality including Iron, Manganese, Lead, etc. can affect filtration efficiency of Radium.
Our Express Water Whole House Cartridge Filters 20" x 4.5" are designed for pre-treated water with heavy metal contaminant levels within EPA guidelines. Extremely high levels of any contaminants will require a higher capacity filter/system.
Please be sure to check with your local water source to understand the contaminant levels in your incoming water quality to your home to ensure this Heavy Metal KDF filter is able to handle the contaminant levels.
Please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800)992-8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm (PST) should you have any further questions or concerns. We are here to help!

Great System
Installed this unit 2 weeks ago and I am amazed by the quality of my water. I am using this on a water well. I also installed an ISPRING WSP500ARJ spin down filter to filter out sand and particles before the home filter system. Great system.

Junk
Bought this unit from Homedepot. Just paid it off using my Homedepot credit. About 4 months old. Now the gauge is leaking. The furthest gauge at the outlet end. Took it out and re applied Teflon tape and still leaking. The housing must have a hair line crack. What a joke this company is, now i have a wall to repair/replace for 500 bucks. Thanks

Express Heavy Metals Filters
Works like a champ. Put my water softener ahead of the filter system and the finished water is great.
I put mine together using PEX stick tubing and Uponor fittings. Made for a very neat job.

Awesome setup
Purchased this unit to remove scale, build-up and taste of our city water. The installation is easy for an above average DIYer with plumbing and pipe sweating ability. Been about a week and already seeing, feeling and tasting the difference.

Game-changer in our house on well water!
I've had this installed for two weeks now. I'm including photos of it when it was new, the plumbing I created for it with the bypass piping, and now two weeks later. You can see for yourself that the sediment filter has done an incredible job at stopping sediment from getting into our house!
Some background: We live in a coastal area that's (for all intents and purposes) former farmland built on swamp. When our well was sunk 20 years ago, they found a "good" aquifer for it and the water was "as good as it could get". However, the water is full of iron, sediment, and most irritatingly, sulfur.
We have an expensive system that we lease that includes a water softener and a carbon filter that's supposed to get our water to be "as good as it can get" but even with that, it still tasted bad and the smell was really awful. I installed a couple of Kube filters under the kitchen sink and the master bathroom sink, so that water tasted okay...but when I tried water out of one of the other bathrooms while doing some renovation work, it was undrinkable. Long story short, they stopped selling Kube filters so I had to find something else because our water was nothing short of nasty. The company that installed our water softener and carbon filter priced out a whole-home reverse osmosis system for us and that was $15k. I was almost tempted to go down that road, but that's a hefty price to pay, for certain.
I researched around and came across this system here on the Home Depot website. It was inexpensive and I needed something...so I decided to give it a shot.
My first impression is that this was a quality unit. Seriously. The metalwork is first-rate and it's very well put together. I've worked in industrial environments most of my adult working life and this is something I'd see in a lab or a heavy-duty facility. It's really well made, and I was really impressed by just that right off the bat.
It took me about four hours to install the system (I had to build a 2x4 frame for it so it could be in-line with the water from the carbon filter to the house and be above the pressure switch for our well. I used pex for all of the piping and connections and aside from being heavy and having to work in cramped quarters, I was able to get it done by myself (and I'm not a professional plumber, just someone handy with tools). I followed the instructions for start-up and it seemed to work a-okay right from the start.
In the two weeks that we've had it, we've noticed a dramatic difference in our house water. It's now drinkable from any tap and THE SMELL IS GONE. Yes folks, that nasty sulfur rotten-egg smell that so many people on wells have...it's GONE. Not only that, it's crazy the amount of sediment that the filter catches, and this is after going through the water softener and carbon filter...and it's still nasty. You can see how dark the sediment filter is just from two weeks of use. I'm planning on changing out the filters every six months at the maximum because it's doing a far better job catching stuff than anything else we have.
As far as water pressure, it didn't change that at all. I read some reviews where people had a massive drop in water pressure, but I haven't seen that at all. In fact, if anything, the water pressure is better (don't know how...maybe my imagination...but it definitely hasn't gone down).
Overall, I'm really, really pleased with this system. It's a fraction of the cost of a whole-home RO system and our water is what we used to have back when we lived "in town" on city water. I will recommend this system to my neighbors who are having the same issues because I'm that happy with it. If you're thinking about buying it...just do it. You won't regret it (and no, I have no association with the company nor am I being paid or compensated for this review...it's just a system that really WORKS!)

Easy Install
I’m still lesss than 24 hours after the install so I’ll update if anything changes. Install was pretty simple. Just make sure you follow instructions and don’t solder close to the plastic fittings. It’s definitely making a difference in taste and smell. FYI the first filter is white. Less than 24 hours and mine is brown

I installed this water filter to my private shallow well and so far
has performed as advertised. Definitely would recommend for hard
water filtration, has removed iron color and staining I was experiencing
prior to installation.
Also installed an I-spring prefilter to try to extend filter life, time will tell.

Leaky
I purchased this product from HomeDepot in June of 2020 (my house has lead pipe). I had the unit professionally installed by a licenced plumber, and it the center filter began leaking immediately. The plumber swapped the filter housings around to isolate where the leak was coming from (e.g. the filter housing or the body) - the leak was coming from the body.
The ExpressWater documentation ask that you contact them first if there are any issues, so I did. They asked me to perform the same test that the plumber already did to isolate the source of the leak.
ExpressWater then sent me a new o-ring kit. I installed the o-rings and the leak was still there. Express filter then sent me a new filter housing, and an entire new set of filters. It still leaked - I was sending them images and even a video of the leak too.
ExpressWater then sent me an RMA tag in August 2020, so I cut the filter out the plumbing system, boxed it up and returned it to their facility in California.
ExpressWater agreed to send me a replacement, and promptly sent me another set of filter cartridges instead! - I now have three complete set of filters, enough to filter 3,000,000 gallons of water!
I contact them again with pictures, and got an entirely new filter which was installed today (October 2020). It leaks too.
I've had enough, I've spent $1,300 on this project so far with nothing to show for it, and I am going to return the filter to HD and try to recoup some at least some of my money.
3-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System with Iron and Manganese Reducing Filter and 3/4 in. Push-Fit Hose Connectors
The WGB32BM whole house water filter systemThe WGB32BM whole house water filter system is an ideal "point of entry" filtration system for cleaning up well water. Unlike "point of use" systems that are installed to supply water to a specific faucet, the WGB32BM whole house water filtration system filters your water from the source. This means water from every output in your home will have passed through the three filtration stages of the WGB32BM. The stage 1 housing holds a 5-micron high-capacity polypropylene sediment filter. This filter removes dirt and other various larger sized particles from the water that can clog the following filters. The second stage of the WGB32BM whole house water filter houses a 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground carbon packed into a solidified block. This means it has a higher density than other types of carbon filters and is therefore more effective in removing targeted contaminants. The carbon block filter knocks out bad tastes and odors, removes up to 99% of chlorine from the water, and is highly effective on industrial chemicals. The third stage of the WGB32BM has an iron and manganese reducing filter. The FM25B iron and manganese reducing filter is only included with the WGB32BM whole house water filter system, as it is not needed for most municipal water supplies that the WGB32B whole house water filter targets.View Full Product Description
