    This mailbox post is designed to accommodate standard size mailboxes. More specifically, it slides over a 4" x 4" or 6" x 6" wooden post (which is not included). You'll want to check the dimensions of your #2 Standard mailbox to ensure it's compatible with this mounting method. We used the 6x6 post after reading reviews and definitely think it made it more stable. We installed it 2 weeks ago. It looks great and we are very happy with this buy.

        Product is very nice
        Upon receipt we opened the box carefully because of the horror stories of breakage upon arrival. We found that a very small piece of the post cap had chipped and that was it. The directions stated to use a 4x4 or a 6x6 as the mailbox post. I wanted it to be very study, so we used a 6x6... great choice. You have to be extremely careful with this product or it will chip or break. Follow the directions to the letter! The neighbors love the mailbox and it goes with the outside of our house.

          Very nice, but looks a bit wonky
          I had to get two of these mailbox posts as my neighbor backed into the first within two weeks of installing it. The mailbox post looks excellent. I am very happy with how it looks. However, there were difficulties. Both mailboxes had the problem of the support arm not being long enough, thus causing a slanted mailbox. We thought it was a fluke of the first post, so wrote it off. The same problem occurred with the second post. We tried putting the arm on other sides of the post, but all resulted in a slanted mailbox. We had to get some wood to wedge between the mailbox and the mounting surface below, and it helped a bit. Screwing the arm screw in before the mailbox shelf screws was also helpful, but did not fix the problem. The screws that are included are very low quality. We ended up getting wood screws as the ones provided got stripped very easily. The overall product looks really nice. We get a lot of compliments on it, despite the slanted box.

          Appealing once installed if one comes undamaged
          I purchased this mailbox to replace an older wooden one. The first one that was shipped came damaged, as other reviewers have stated. Home Depot's customer service sent a second one with expedited shipping to replace the first. Once installed, it looked very nice. It looked a little slimmer than I had imagined compared to other mailboxes on the street, but it was still very appealing. I had a professional install it, so I can't comment on that part. As far as I am concerned, it was super easy because I only supplied the alcohol to the installer!

          Not a good value for the price
          The material is cheap and breaks apart easy. There was some damage out of the box even, and as you move around the post to orient it, little parts break off. Not a good value for 199. Its already in the ground so I couldnt return it... just be ready to jimmy rig it to make everything work right.

          bad design, not sturdy, but looks nice
          After installing this, it's obvious whoever designed it didn't think it through. I started by planting a 4x4 post in the ground, anchored with concrete. I left the top uncut, which I would recommend, and would cut it later after deciding how much is sticking above the stone sleeve. Then I slid the sleeve over the top--by the way, be careful here, because there's a lip inside the top of the sleeve and if it bumps the top of the post when you slide the sleeve on, it will crack, like it did to me. I realized that the design requires the sleeve to be centered around the post. If it's not, the top cap won't be centered, since there is a 4x4 hole in the middle of the bottom of the cap. This, I expected. However, the instructions seem to tell you to put the road side of the sleeve against the post. Reason for that is the screws which hold the mailbox shelf to the sleeve are the only thing keeping the sleeve on the post. But if the sleeve is centered around the post, the screws won't reach the post, and anyone can come along and slide the sleeve off the post. My solution was to build out the side of the post facing the road. I attached a 2x4 to (partially) fill the gap between the post and the inside of the sleeve. Next problem: the mailbox shelf. The shelf is held on by a metal bracket with 3 screws. The bottom two screws are very close to the shelf, thus it's impossible to use a driver drill to insert the screws, and difficult to use a screwdriver. And after I get the shelf installed, it's really flimsy. That might be OK, I think, because I haven't installed the shelf support arm yet. Last problem: the shelf support arm. If you can believe this, the arm attaches to the bottom of the shelf with a double sided sticker. There's a screw to attach it to the post at the other end. Needless to say, this didn't address the flimsy problem much. Bottom line, if anyone bumps into the mailbox, I think it's coming off. If you have issues with kids hitting mailboxes in your area, don't buy this. I'm interested to see how this makes it through a New England winter, with the snowplows. For two hundred dollars, I expected *much* better quality. But, it looks nice! Added a star for end result looks, but otherwise it's a 1 star product.

          Stacked Stone Mailbox Post
          I do want to start out by saying that after all the trouble I went through the end result looks great. First off a standard or oversized box would not fit and and had to cut off approx. 1/4 inch from the bracket side to make it fit. Also the screws they provide are garbage aluminum screws. I had 1 break off and had to drill an alternate hole and used decking screws to mount. I was lucky enough to have resources to make the modifications but some people that buy this may not. I do shop The Home Depot a lot and most times have little or no issues buying online but in this case I've contacted The Home Depot customer service and asked them to get involved to get these issues resolved so in the future other customers will have a much easier time
