Lightweight composite tub with high gloss acrylic finish
Aesthetically, the tub looks great and was just the size I required. Only time will tell if this Fine Fixtures vessel holds up. I have been around acrylic composite tubs for over 25 years as a manufacturer and supplier of cast acrylic sheet to the bath and spa industry. This tub is lightweight, which is expected from a composite structure and makes a one-man installation easy. The resin in the FRP backing appears to be a "neat" unfilled resin. I was surprised that the tub shell is translucent when candled against a light source. Impossible to know how thick the acrylic surface layer is, but I suspect it to be less than 0.020" after thermoforming. So far as installation, I don't care for the four rectangular feet on the bottom of the tub; the feet interfere with simple installation on a mortar support bed. This manufacturer indicates that tub can be installed supported by the four feet. I would not have confidence in any composite tub installation without a full support bed of mortar under the bottom. Note that I have installed 6 other DIY acrylic tubs in my life and all other tub manufacturer's installation instructions have demanded the tub bottoms to be fully supported by setting in a mortar bed.

It’s such a beautiful tub! Shines and very strong! First since I wasn’t sure if this tub is going to be a good one , I bought two tubes snd each different manufacture. The more expensive one actually was not as shiny as this one. So I’m very happy with my tub. My contractor under mount it and looks so sleek.
