About This Product

The Italian Cypress has a timelessly elegant appearance in any landscape. Watch as they reach for the stars with a naturally narrow, columnar shape. Dense foliage makes this a fantastic screen variety, ideal for sealing out noise, wind, and prying eyes. At maturity, this privacy tree reaches 40 ft. to 50 ft. Tall and 5 ft. W to 6 ft. W. However, if you have a specific height in mind, simply trim the top of the tree once it reaches that size. In the best possible growing conditions, this fast-growing tree is capable of growing 3 ft. in a single year. In average conditions, it tends to grow 1 ft. to 2 ft. Annually. It grows from USDA Zones 7 zone to 11 zone and requires little maintenance once established. Be sure to plant this Cypress in Full Sun for proper growth and plant health. Additionally, water your new plant 2-times to 3-times per week during the first growing season. Provide more water in times of extreme heat/dryness. These Italian Cypress are grown in a 2.5 qt. (trade gallon) pot and are fully rooted. They will be between 12 in. and 24 in. Tall upon arrival.

    Answer This Question

A:  Italian cypress trees (Cupressus sempervirens) thrive in warm climates, and they are well-suited for zones 9A and 10B. These regions offer the necessary Mediterranean-like conditions, including mild winters and plenty of sunlight, which Italian cypress trees prefer. In Zone 9A and 10B, they should grow well and maintain their iconic columnar shape, adding an elegant and stately presence to the landscape.

Q:How deep do you plant them
      by|Mar 5, 2020

      Answer This Question

A:  When planting Italian cypress trees, it's crucial to dig a hole that is as deep as the tree's root ball and two to three times as wide. The goal is to allow the roots to spread out easily in the soil. Make sure the top of the root ball sits slightly above the soil level to prevent water accumulation at the base of the trunk. The depth of the planting hole should match the depth of the container or the root system, but it's generally not necessary to plant Italian cypress trees significantly deeper than they were in the nursery container. Proper planting depth, combined with well-draining soil and appropriate watering, contributes to the healthy establishment and growth of Italian cypress trees.

      by|Nov 21, 2023

A:  Make the hole at least 1 foot deep to plant these.

        by|Mar 13, 2020

          A:  One foot deep

          by|Apr 9, 2020

A:  Plant them so that the top of the soil from the potted plant is even with the surrounding soil. Ensure that the hole you dig is at least twice the width of the pot in which the cypress arrived and the soil is well-draining. You should dig the hole at least 6 inches deeper than the pot's depth and back fill the hole with fresh "tree and shrub" soil for best results. Plant them as soon as possible and keep them moist until you get them in the ground.

So far, so good. I received 8 healthy plants and they've been in the ground for over a month now (zone 7). They look good and I'm watering them a few times a week when the rain doesn't show up. As recommended by professionals, I planted them using "tree and shrub" planting soil that had fertilizer in it.
