I cant believe nobody has asked what size double pole breaker the 8 foot or any of them require? Can you tell me on the 8 foot model what size double pole breaker for the 220 volts is needed? 20amp, 30amp, 40amp? thank you in advance.
Asked by: Eric
JeffSch is correct. It evens says so in the instructions manual. I just had one installed today.

Can this be used with 208 volts
Asked by: Bill
Yes. Unit will work if Your voltage measures 208vac. As long as you have a double pole breaker in your service panel rated 20amp to wire it to you woul get slightly less than 2000watt output because voltage is less but no problem would occur.

We used these units to replace Cadet wall heaters throughout our 1250 sf rambler, and it feels like we sold our home and purchased a higher quality one. The main issue with wall heaters is they require installation on an interior wall, which is of course where thermostats are located. As soon as the heaters have warmed the half of the room in which the heaters and thermostats reside, they shut off without having fully heated the room, leaving a band of cooler air at the exterior walls. With these units installed on the exterior walls, providing an insulating curtain of warm air there, and with the heat traveling across the entire room before reaching the thermostats, the difference is amazing. These provide even, warm, almost silent heat. You'll hear some occasional slight ticking when they're heating, but otherwise nothing. If you're hearing loud pops, it's because the unit is screwed too tightly to the wall. Tighten the screws and back off 1/2 turn to let the metal move with heat and they'll be almost silent. Another plus is that they can sit right on the flooring with baseboards butted to them, for a nice clean install. Only been in about a month so far so don't know how operating costs compare to the wall heaters but frankly, I don't care. There isn't any comparison in the quality of the systems, you would have to compare these to a circulating hot water baseboard or other comparable radiant system. Also, don't cheap out on the thermostat, these need one that will turn on the heat with only one degree of drop. The advantage of the hydronics is slower cool-down, but that also means slower heat-up. I recommend a Honeywell TH106, its a reasonably priced fully programmable unit that "learns"; if you set a temp of 70 for 6 am, it remembers that yesterday morning it took 15 minutes to get the room to temp, and will start the heaters 15 minutes early today to reach your programmed temp at the programmed time. Pretty nice. If you're thinking of replacing cadet heaters or conventional baseboards with these, go for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Over all the heater is excellent product, the wiring connections can be connected on both sides the heater but you should understand the wiring diagram before you make the connections. There is a removable wire nut on either side and a crimped connection. Following the wire diagram you will see that the removable wire nut is the consumer connection point. If you cannot understand the diagram, there is a customer support to call. I had to open both sides of the heater to verify the wire connections. There is a smell on the initial start up but goes away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended! I own a 1970's built, 490sf condo that is limited to a single 8ft electric baseboard heater. The original heater was non-hydronic which I removed 7 years ago and did not replace until a few days ago with an 8ft hydronic (Where I live, the temp rarely drop below 40(f) during the winter. I'd use a portable oil filled radiator style heater when needed). Because we used the existing wires, Installation wasn't difficult. We turned off the power and swaped the wires. Since I have not had a hard-wired heater for a few years, I cannot comment on the efficiency, yet. Rated for 200sf, with my condo more than double that size I am expecting my electric bill to jump however, it's only for a few months of the year. Even with this unit being undersized (based on the manufacturer's specs.) it heats the place quickly, and seems to maintain the temp very well and surprisingly even. With my thermostat located on the back side of the opposite wall from the heater (clear across the room) I have been able to maintain 68(f). I haven't tried to go above that temp yet. I know that the heater is cycling on and off (not running continuously) because we wired it through a transformer and relay and I can hear the relay click on and off. The heater seems to be on steady for about 15min but once it reaches 68, it turns off for about 30min. The beauty of a hydronic heater is that the liquid part of the heater remains hot which helps maintain room temp after the thermostat shuts it off. Wired through a transformer/relay allowed me more choices for thermostats. I chose a Honeywell 5-2 day programmable thermostat which I'm hoping will help with the efficiency. As the installation manual states, the unit will let off a "new" smell the 1st few times you use it. That was no lie. It smelled like chemicals but dissipated after about 20-30 minutes of use and hasn't happened since. The unit is dead silent, seems well built, and heats my place quickly despite being undersized. The only negative is that the stores do not stock this item. I had to wait for it to be shipped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product; wiring detail not so much....... This was a replacement for an existing hydronic baseboard heater. Simple removal of the old and replace with the new unit. I am an experienced do it yourselfer, and I was confused by the wiring directions. I had to go on the internet, where I discovered, others had the same confusion. I hope the manufacturer will make their directions more clear. When installed, the product worked as I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution for a small room If you have a small to medium size room you need to heat and need a simple solution, this is it. Unit is attractive and unobtrusive. Once turned on, you will feel immediate heat and when turned off the warmth continues for a while. Two caveats: You'll need to purchase the thermostat separately and you need access to 240v.

I have the other type at my cabin and it is very noisy. This one I can't tell it is on unless I go over and put my hand over it. Well worth the extra cost.

They replaced two 10 foot baseboard heaters that were 50+ years old. Just installed two weeks ago, spent my first weekend with them. These heaters are silent and provide a very even heat. I paired them with a Honeywell TH106 digital thermostat - this is a great combo. They heated up in a reasonable amount of time (granted, it's not winter yet - I do anticipate they will take longer to heat than my old units). The thermostat held the temperature precisely and the heat was consistent through the rooms. This is a huge improvement over the old units which, with a bi-metal thermostat, had a temperature variation of 10-15 degrees. It feels like I upgraded to a nicer place! They look great and I would highly recommend them.
