My attic opening is 22 1/2 x 53” Can the 54” length be adjusted?
The outside frame dimensions are 22"x53.5" so if you could sand down your opening from the front and back just to get the 53.5" that would work. You cannot adjust the attic ladder frame. If you would be ok with making your opening length smaller than you can also go with the LWF model in the 22.5x47 size and install 2x4's or 2x6's or whatever kind of ceiling joists you have to make the opening length smaller.
how wide are the steps? im trying to find a wide ladder hatch for my detached garage. the one in my attached garage has a 20" wide step
The steps are 13 3/8". We do not offer any ladders with 20" wide steps. The widest will be 15" which is for our LST scissor model in the 27.5x31.5 and 30.5x54 opening sizes.
My ceiling is 7'7"..Can I use this product? I know the scissors stair will work but I'd prefer Fakro wood.
The minimum ceiling height for this model is 7'11 1/2". Cutting it below the specified minimum ceiling height would void the warranty and can cause the bottom section to be too short with not enough support.
Where do you get the measurements from for the recess
The recessed opening is 25"x54" for this model.
We got this ladder for a new construction home but when we go to close it the stairs don’t have a spring to pull them up easily. We have to use another ladder in order to reach high enough to fold the ladder up. Are we missing something?

Does this ladder have a latch that secures the hatch closed? If not, will the hatch sag to a partially open position over time?
This model has a spring close so when you fold the ladder and push the door up it will stay closed. Our models that have an actual locking mechanism are the LWP, LWT, and LMS models.
What is the cost of the additional steps needed to work for a 10' 10" ceiling?
LWF 22.5x47 fire rated ladder has maximum ceiling height of 8'11" and it cannot be extended. Perhaps you are asking about LST, metal scissor ladder which has an option of adding the steps. Additional steps for the LST are $79 each.
Does it have a latch lock P.O. pull cord
The LWF model has a flush latch in the door and comes with a control rod that is used to hook on to the latch and pull the door down.
