THIS FAN IS AWESOME!! I didn't think I could LOVE a ceiling fan this much. BUT.....it is perfect. The installation was easy. The instructions were pretty good. They didn't match the fan exactly. The fan was pre assembled a little more than the instructions noted, but it was very easy to figure out. The fan is super quiet. It is the bedroom above the bed, so this important. Also, the fan comes with a remote so you only need one hot wire for the installation. This seems to be the new "normal". The fan is more expensive than a typical ceiling fan, but then there is nothing typical about this fan. In "light" mode, you do not see the fan blades at all. The fan blades "fly out" during "fan" mode and they retract when you turn the fan off. Super cool!!!

Fanaway has designed and manufactured a futuristic, modern, and unique ceiling fan that is highlighted with its chrome accents. The four clear acrylic fan blades extend when you turn on the fan and retract when you shut off the fan. The fan blades can take approximately 15 to 20 seconds to fully extend from the time you turn the ceiling fan on. Additionally, the fan blades can take anywhere from 50 to 70 seconds to fully retract once you turn it off. Even after they retract the blades will continue to rotate before they come to a complete stop. The fan has three speed settings (low, medium & high) that can easily be controlled from the remote. The faster the fan speed the more air movement you will have further away from the center of the fan. The fan is also equipped with three 25 watt vintage style LED bulbs, that are not dimmable. This ceiling fan emits plenty of light especially with all of the reflective chrome surfaces, however it can cast quite a few shadows on the walls in smaller rooms. This installation is a little more complex than a standard ceiling fan, which is further complicated by poor installation instructions. When installing the large receiver the canopy space becomes tight quickly, so make sure you have all of your wiring completed first. A second pair of hands might be useful especially since the fan weighs around 30 pounds.

The design and look of this fan just can't be beat. Like others have said I've never seen a fan with retractable blades and these are actually clear. I love the modern look and that it can be mounted actually over a dinner table (which we're planning to do, just haven't had the chance to put it up yet) because until the fan is switched on it looks like a regular light. And I especially appreciate that because the blades are hidden there should be a lot less dust accumulating on them!

This fan simply ROCKS! The quality of the fan is OUTSTANDING. The instructions, not so much. If you are replacing an existing fan that has a light, you may need to adjust your wiring if you provide split power (the red electrical wire) from a light switch for the fan's light (and the black wire to the fan). You will need to only supply the black wire to this new fan/light. The reason for this is the fan comes with a wireless receiver that is used with a handheld remote control (see remote photo). This receiver accepts the incoming black power wire from your light switch and splits it to black and red power outputs, the black going to the power the fan, and the red to power the light within the fan. The look of the fan, along with the quality of the materials is simply FANTASTIC (can you tell we love this fan?) I wish they would invest just a little time in rewriting the installation instructions as they are ambiguous. A few examples. Like most instruction manuals they provide a numbered part and parts diagram list to orient you to each piece. However, on the very next page they proceed with installation step one where they renumber all the parts for that step! Then, on the very next step, they again renumber the parts. Also, there are certain substeps which you simply do not need to do such as the one that tells you to remove the ball joint. The instructions also tell you to install the light to the fan before you connect the wiring to the appliance. This only serves to make the wiring that much more difficult as the light element does not need to be in the way at the point. There are other substeps which are worded poorly and are hard to understand. Outside of the installation instructions, however, this fan/light is wonderful. The light portion features 3 x 25W vintage LED light bulbs that are gorgeous (see photos). A couple items of note: The single most exciting feature of this fan is the way the blades collapse and hide while not in use (see photo). Then, when you turn on the fan using the remote, the blades open up and extend. Also, the fan is totally quiet in operation - and I mean QUIET! We hadn't realized how loud our old fan was until we installed this fan. Since the light is powered via the remote control using a wireless connection to the receiver, and the receiver is installed in the fan appliance itself, make sure you do not lose the remote or you won't be able to turn this appliance on. Hopefully additional remotes can be ordered but I have not yet checked on this. Also, as we have discovered, other devices in your home might accidentally turn on the fan if they operate at the same frequency as the fan. The receiver features dip switches to allow you to set a different frequency to fix this problem. However, you need to of course open the fan housing back up and pull out the receiver to do so. You need to also set the dip switches in the remote (look inside the battery compartment) to match those of the fan receiver. The light does not support dimming, but I found the 25W bulbs to be a pleasant brightness, one which I wouldn't want to dim anyway. The fan can be operated at low, medium, or high speed. Our fan is installed in a large family room in our house and it can be felt throughout the entire room when set on high. Finally, the fan comes with a 2 year warranty.

This ceiling fan is unique and fantastic. The box is really heavy so I assumed the fan was heavy too but it’s not. As complicated as you may think it is to install, it actually a breeze. The parts are the pre assembled fan unit, the light kit, canopy, downrod, ceiling bracket remote and remote receiver. The one downside is the rather large remote receiver. You have to place it above the ceiling canopy and if you’ve installed a ceiling fan before you know the space can be very tight for a remote receiver and the wiring. The wiring is simplified by the well written instruction manual. Turn it on and the blades gradually fan out creating a whisper quiet breeze that’s adequate for a large room. Turn it off and they slowly retract to transform into a large ceiling pendant. I don’t particularly care that the bulbs show but the real glass is a very nice touch. It would probably look even better with a cover for the light kit though. Fan includes three, vintage style bulbs. Even though I have stood above this fan while in operation, I still can’t quite figure out how the blades work. It is truly revolutionary and versatile. Speeds are high, medium and low and controlled by the included remote that sits in a wall bracket, which is also included.  The remote has a dimmer on off switch but to dim you will need dimmable bulbs.

Not sure what fan most everybody ELSE was installing, but I didn't think this was easy to install at all...spottily incomplete instructions throughout really slowed it down. Left a lot to be assumed & deduced, which is not what you want when installing a unique product like this. This fan is HEAVY...way heavier than I've ever experienced, so be sure of your mounting box, and careful going up that ladder. Watch where you set the motor housing, too, it's greasy on the bottom. This is my first remote controlled fan, so not sure what the norm is...this fan has a weird way of mounting the remote receiver, by sliding it into the top of the mounting bracket (after wiring it inline), where you would normally stuff your extra wiring...is that normal? I usually have enough trouble just putting the wiring there...it went ok, finally, but that's a lot to cram under a small canopy (Note: there's a whole set of added instructions about changing the RC codes, but it's only relevant if you have another RC fan, the presets work fine for this one). As to how it works once it is finally installed, I do wish the blades extended fully on the slower speeds, & I probably will miss that it doesn't have reverse...still, now that it's up (got it right the first time), I really like it...it's very quiet & stable, the remote works great, the blades are cool, it goes with my other stuff surprisingly well, I even like the light better than I thought I would (the Edison-style bulbs are interesting shining thru the side glass)...and so far, it works ok on a previously installed dimmer circuit, tho' it hums a bit when I use THAT dimmer (not it's own)...just wish it had been about half as much work installing it (better instructions & it would have been...turned out to be fairly straightforward). This fan was $483 when I ordered it.

I have never seen a fan quite like this one. It is so cool. The blades retract out when you turn the fan on and retract in when you turn it off. It's the coolest thing ever!!! It has a very quiet operation. Can't hear it spinning at all. Even on high. It has semi clear blades and a metal housing. It comes in two parts. The fan motor part and the light fixture. It does have a remote control for the fan speed and the light. The only problem we encountered was where to fit the remote receiver. It shows in the instructions that it should fit above the ceiling bracket but it barely fits. It took a little wiggling to get it to fit without pulling on the wires. There are three fan speeds and a dimmer for the lights on the remote control. I just think that the remote should have glow in the dark controls. It even came with the Edison light bulbs.Very cool and unique product. I absolutely love it!

I have never seen a fan like this before and must admit that I was skeptical but was amazed at how easy it was to install (no blades to assemble and attach!) and how well if functions. It was a tight fit getting the remote receiver to fit into the base bell-housing and the wire harness coming out of the top of the light fixture was a little offset from the center which caused concern that it may get pinched by the rod (see pic) but these were the only installation issue and really not a big deal. No fan blades to install because they are concealed above the light fixture which will also make cleaning them easy. When the fan motor starts, the centrifugal force causes the blades to quietly unfold and provide a powerful air flow. In the picture I attached of the fan running, the blades cannot be seen but they are there and really moving air. We nicknamed this fan the "spaceship" fan because that's what it resembles when it "takes off". Oh, and the light fixture! Very basic, open 3-bulb fixture that is dimmable from the remote. it comes with 3 Edison LED bulbs which look nice and provide plenty of light. This fan looks and operates great and I would recommend it for anyone wanting a fan that is unique and functions.

Fanaway, a newly invented design from the famous fan manufacturer Beacon Lighting, an Australian company has introduced it to the American market. It has retractable blades ceiling fan with dimmable LED lights, controlled with the remote. Turn the Fanaway on and the crystal clear and barely visible acrylic blades unfold and spin, whisper quiet - making it perfect for any type of room. I recommend it especially for bedrooms. When the fan is switched off, the blades retract, leaving Fanaway to function as an energy efficient pendant light. I do appreciate the clean and simple design to complement any interior. The installation is pretty easy but the included manual is not quite right. The installation of the light kit is not right; it has another step to include: the three light kit has to be removed in order to install the glass shade. The manual at Home depot site is also not quite well done. The remote control is different from what is included in the kit. Overall a nice and cool fan and the sound is very low: 40 dB on high speed at 8 feet away, and I love quiet feature.

Absolutely a Unique and Beautiful Fan. Fold-able blades that fold down on top of the light fixture when the fan is not in use. What a fabulous idea, you enjoy the benefits of having a ceiling fan without looking like one. I have never seen anything like this before, I love new technology! This product is unique, modern, funky, industrial, and super "cool". Everything was included from batteries to filament bulbs. Installation took about 2 hours, even if you have installed fans before, read the entire manual and unpack the pieces. We were in the final stages and realized we still had a receiver (operates remote) to install. It is packaged with the remote control. The blades are attached and perfectly balanced in the factory. Once the mounting bracket was installed, we carefully laid the fan assembly on the top shelf of an 8 foot ladder for wiring. It saved time and effort. Once the motor and blade assembly were installed, we ran the suggested test for blade operation, everything worked great (see video). The light fixture slides in place and secures with screws. The (3) filament bulbs are included- 25- watt max on each bulb putting out 75 watts. It gives off plenty of light but my personal preference would be to have a transparent cover on the bottom of the light fixture. The remote control is used to turn the fan on and off. Beautiful, super quiet, high quality, great air flow and better than it appears in the picture. After seeing the concealed blades, I'm not sure I would want anything else. I'm delighted and look forward to years of enjoyment.
