Love this ceiling fan!!! First a word of caution: the "linen-look" shade is actually plastic, but it is very delicate and can easily get bent so treat it gently. Because of that (and contrary to the instructions), I recommend waiting to attach the light kit until AFTER the fan has been hung. In my opinion, it's actually easier to do it that way!! Beyond that, the installation was a piece of cake. For starters, the blades are already attached to the body of the fan, which saves a lot of assembly time. The instructions were a bit vague about a couple of the steps, but it's pretty easy to figure out what you need to do. I've installed many ceiling fans and this was among the easiest!! Well, I did have a small issue because my ceiling had a medallion glued to the ceiling, which made it impossible to insert the locking screws for the canopy (they are right next to the ceiling). But it ultimately all worked out. The fan's operation is rock steady, without even the slightest bit of wobble. And it's extremely quiet even on the highest of the three speeds, with absolutely no mechanical noises as the blades expand. The dimmable light is plenty bright at full brightness, and it uses 3 regular LED bulbs (included) in case they ever need to be changed!! About the only slightly negative thing I can say is that the air flow has a pretty limited outward flow (mostly due to the relatively small blade span of only 48"), but it produces an excellent breeze in the area below the fan. Since I installed mine over my dining table, it does exactly what I wanted it to do. One other possible caveat... It comes with a very short (5") downrod, so if you need a longer downrod you will probably want to purchase a Fanaway brand downrod because they are non-threaded on both ends (unlike the ones HD stocks in stores). But Fanaway downrods are available online and not overly expensive. In closing... I must also say that watching the fan blades expand as it starts up is pure joy!!! I can't help smiling every time I turn it on.

FANAWAY FRASER 48 IN. WHITE AND TRANSPARENT AC CEILING FAN WITH LIGHT This is a really neat fan has a unique design. If you have the fan off it looks just like a light hanging there. When you turn the fan on the faster it spins the more the blades come out. The blades are clear so it’s harder to see the blades. The fan moves a lot of air on high The light is very bright if the dimmer is turned up If you want a sleek looking ceiling fan that moves a lot of air when wanted this is it.

If you follow the easy to read instructions you can have it up in 30 minutes or less if you have help. Now about the fan.My wife thinks it looks like something from the 30s.I love the engineering and design put into it.The fans retract into a nice compact shape at the top of the light when not in use. When activated it opens up by using gears and springs for tension so again once off the fans retract. It comes with LED bulbs and they are adjustable for brightness. The light can get very bright. The bulbs are 10 watts each and there are three. The fan is quiet and makes absolutely no sound when running or when the blades retract. To me this is the best fan I have seen to date and I am very happy with it.

A great ceiling fan that offers all the features and functionality you need wrapped in a fascinating design. The oil rubbed bronze finish looks great with the oversized lamp kit. The lamp can be controlled by the remote: on/off and dimmer. It accepts any bulb of 60 watts or less with a standard A19 base, but comes with 3 LED bulbs that output a nice warm white. The fan is 3-speed and also controlled from the remote. If your fan/light is connected to a wall switch, it will remember the last setting when turned on from the switch. The real story here is the fascinating design. The blades mimic the shape of a scimitar, but even that's only half the story. The blades are designed to automatically retract behind the lamp cover when the fan stops spinning and then automatically deploy when the fan is spinning. If the coolness factor isn't enough for you, the retracted blades actually reduce the amount of dust that collects on them while the fan isn't running. The scimitar blades move a good amount of air. I mostly run mine on low speed. If you don't like the oil rubbed bronze, the fan is also available in white.

I was really impressed by the look of this fan. It looks even better than we thought it would. It works great and love the clear blades. It looks like a normal light fixture. The room did have a 52 inch fan that made the room seem small. Once the new fixture up the room feels large. Love it. Well worth the cost..

This is the second Fanaway fan I've gotten. Everything needed to install it is included so there's no running to the store for anything. The instructions are crystal clear. It takes about 30 minutes to install. There are three 60W 2700k bulbs included. I prefer 5000k bulbs so I replaced them. The light is strong enough to light up an average room and is dimmable. The fan is awesome. Just watching the blades expand and contract is like moving art. Also, and most important, the fan is absolutely silent. Great fan in every way.

I really like this fan. The installation isn't too much different from other fans, but there are a few things that make it easier. It's very quiet and the curved blades seem to 'spread out' the breeze more than standard straight blades. My wife noticed a difference as soon as I switched it on. It doesn't seem to spin as fast on high as the one I replaced, but since we never used high I don't think that's too much of an issue. The installation was probably the easiest fan install I've ever done. It only took 45 minutes to install after I had removed the prior fan, and part of that time included getting a package off the porch. Since I was replacing an existing fan, there was already a fan box in place. The prior fan had a low profile box, but there was still plenty of room for the house to remote wiring. It uses the standard half-ball mounting bracket, once the remote was wired up all I had to do was lift the fan into the bracket. Since the lights are separate from the fan unit, this was very easy as the fan was reasonably easy to handle. Attaching the light fixture was very simple, it uses keyed screws to make it a very simple operation. Just remove one screw and loosen two others, slide the unit over the screws, twist, and then screw everything back down. This is done twice, once for the light fixture and once for the shade. One of the things that makes this fan so easy to install is the blades don't need to be installed. There usually is considerable swearing trying to affix 5 fan blades with 2 bolts each while working above my head in tight spaces with a fixture that spins. All of that is eliminated as the blades are on top of the unit and out of the way during installation. After I put the included battery in the remote and installed the included LED light bulbs, everything worked just fine. I only have to observations about the unit. The first is there is no flush mount option, probably due to the way the blades work. I would have loved to have gotten rid of the downrod, but it's no lower than the old fan so that really wasn't a problem. I also wish they would have used some type of LED panel instead of LED bulbs. The bulbs create bright spots on the underside of the light fixture. It's not really an issue, just a suggestion. As a side note, I didn't need the instructions to install, I've done enough fans in my life that I know how to install them. I did read through the instructions afterward, and they are pretty straight forward. But again, since I've done this many times before, I don't think I can comment on how a first-timer would deal with it. I did find that the hardest part of the install is something that isn't really covered in the instructions, routing the wires. That's just something that comes with experience.

Ceiling fans are tough to install to begin with. This one is a monster. You WILL need help. This fixture weighs over 20 pounds (9.1kg) and is over 22 inches (56 cm) in diameter with the fan blades are retracted, so it is both heavy to hold over your head (or at arm's length) and ungainly. This is DEFINITELY a two person installation. Use two ladders to get you both to a good height to make connections. Make SURE the outlet box you're mounting this to is rated for 70 lbs (32 kg) AND is securely mounted to the ceiling joists. The quality of construction is very good, however, some of the ergonomics are less than stellar. The fan direction switch is on top of the motor housing and difficult to get to once the fan is mounted. Too bad the remote can't handle this for you! Also, the pigtails for connecting the light to the fan are a little short at around 6 inches (15 cm). I had difficulty getting my big hands in to make the connection while supporting the light holder. You also need to support the fixture while making wire nut connections and tucking the wires and receiver away. There are other fans out there that allow you to support the fan on the mounting fixture while making electrical connections. This fan would have benefited greatly from this. You can DIY this with the help of a friend, but having an electrician do it is a good idea if you haven't hung a ceiling fan before. On the positive side LED bulbs are included.

What a great idea!! I’d never seen anything like this before. The light fixture on this is pretty substantial in size, so know that going in. Also, the fan is HEAVY. Much heavier than a standard ceiling fan. Pretty straightforward installation compared to any other ceiling fan, but make sure you follow directions closely when wiring everything up as this is controlled by remote which requires a little different wiring. The wires on this unit are super, super long, I had to cut off about 90% for my install. I’m guessing maybe they’re that long in case you install this with an extension pole for vaulted ceilings, but this just includes a standard size pole. Really happy with how it turned out. Also, the shape of these blades seriously move some air even on lower settings. Also operation is beautifully silent.

I installed this in a “second” bedroom, roughly 11’ X 15’ in dimension (roughly 165 sq. ft.). On low and medium speed, very quiet – really don’t hear the air. On a hot day outside, the circulation was great, the room is comfortable. Very fancy design, clear plastic blades spin out when turned on. Noticeably, when the power is turned off, it takes a while for the blades to retract, meaning low friction and lower power (i.e. less energy) to get this up to speed. When the blades are retracted, it looks like a ceiling (pendant style) light hanging down. It kicks out some serious light, even with opaque shade (frosted diffuser) that reduces the glare. The light is supposedly made with a white PVC linen shade, sure doesn’t look PVC, it looks better. The color of a white body looks good. Installation took about 3 hours, part of the reason was to run to the store for screws. Not sure why, but the existing junction box in the ceiling is a little small for this. Ideally, you should have a 4” X 4” metal box. That way, you have more room to stuff the wires as there is an electronic transmitter that goes up into the canopy and it takes up space. It turns out I have another ceiling fan in another room with a remote control. I had to change the “dip” switches as the remote control was affecting the ceiling fan in the other room. Luckily, they have the instruction to help you through this. I have yet to figure out the dimmable LED light feature on the remote control. It’s a little odd, but the Winter/Summer mode switch is on the fan unit itself, not on the remote. Just an oddity. The remote has a little wall mount, a good thing. Another oddity is that the remote feels big in your hand, no functional issue, just an aesthetic feel. The downrod length of about 3” is just right, doesn’t let the fan hang down too low, as the room height is 9’ high. For higher ceiling heights, you should buy longer downrods and or consider a bigger fan for bigger rooms. So far, first impression, I like the lightweight plastic blades and how they spin out, The LED lights (30 watts) kick put some good light, it’s quiet with good circulation, even on low speed, good functionality. I have installed and or replaced about 7 ceiling fans in the house, each has its own peculiarities. Just be patient with the installation and I have been happy with them all.
