Q:Dose fiberon still make the friction base that slid into the post. It would bolt to the ground and hold the the posts very well. I installed them many years ago and one of them rusted out.

Fiberon vs Veranda
I typically use Veranda posts, but Home Depot only had Fiberon, so Monday, May 24th, I’ll give it a try again.
I have used the Fiberon posts, anchors, and jackets once, for mounting in to concrete and found them to be a time consumer, the Veranda posts have a matching 4” square plate for mounting under decks that I use as a template. Fiberon doesn’t. The holes are too small to use 3/8” wedge anchors, so I’m forced to either cut the cheap 6” anchors provided to 3”, (so they don’t snap, and they do) or drilling each hole to 3/8” to use tap cons or wedge anchors.
The railings and post jackets are much superior to Veranda.
But the posts are just a pain to work with.
I’ve been doing vinyl railings part time for a year and a half, and ready to go full time. But not with Fiberon and their posts, unless they can match the ease of install to that of Veranda.
I’m a union tradesman with 30 years, union trained installing aluminum curtain wall on high rise buildings in NYC.

Sturdy product
It's a very sturdy product when installed properly. Following the instructions, I found that all the lag bolts were too short. I had to toss them out and buy longer bolts.
