A:  Thank you for your question. We do not recommend the use of composite decking for fencing applications, nor is it warrantable in such an application. We do understand though, that the use of our products in unique and unwarranted installs are being done. Unless specified locally, or within the requirements of HOA’s, residential fencing has very few applicable building codes regarding construction. Given that the product is a composite deck board, the structure of a fence would need to resemble that of a deck structure: 1. Structural members at 16” OC. a. Minimum 4x4 nominal PT posts spaced no more than 16” o.c., or b. Minimum 4x4 nominal PT posts spaced no more than 6-ft o.c. with minimum 2x4 PT on edge and on 16” o.c. between posts, and a horizontal top beam adjoining posts, and all 2x4’s. 2. Minimum #9 x 2 ½” composite decking screws, 2 per structural member per board. a. NOTE: in areas of higher wind load, the use of composite fascia boards is recommended.
