A:  Yes, but it will break or part more quickly than the steel wire the tensioner was designed for. Gradual bends and moderate stretching will produce best results.

    it was ordered online and was not close to what I wanted. 9 guage wire (using copper as a guide) is way thicker than this "9-guage" aluminum wire. I was very disappointed after waiting 2 weeks for it to arrive. In the future I will not order online and prefer to buy in person somewhere else even though I pay more. at least I get what I wanted.

Its wire, 9 gauge, about 110 thousandth inch diameter, nice and shiny. Came on a wire spool. Didn't measure length it but assume it's all there. Ordered enough to last for many years.
