Q:Applying to OSB 3/4” T&G Flooring wood shop floor and how many coats needed for Foot wear .
by|Feb 4, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi John, All of our products are not really to be used on the floor because floors get washed and the Fire-Poof is water soluble and will wash away when it gets wet. Flame-retardant coatings are not generally used for flooring because of this and the fact that they are not a hard, durable coating. Also, dirt is flammable, so any dirt, grease or grime that gets on the floor can increase flame-spread. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you, Kathy

Q:Can this be applied with a roller or cloth application? I will be applying to LVL beams in my home and would prefer to not accidentally spray nearby ceiling/walls/floors/kitchen counters
    by|Jan 17, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  It must saturate into the wood and be absorbed at the square footage recommended, which is 150 square feet per gallon. As long as you can get enough product to absorb in that way, it should be fine.

Q:Can this be applied to primed and painted drywall? Thanks!
      by|Jan 9, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  The Fire-Poof is the consistency of water, therefore it will not be able to absorb. Would be better to use the WT-102 which comes in White, Black or Color Base for custom tinting. It will slow down flamespread somewhat. But because there is a non flame Retardant paint on the surface, we do not know exactly how much the flamespread will decrease because we don't have testing in a lab with the paint already on the surface with tge WT-102 but we do know that tge outer layer of WT-102 will slow down flamespread. Please call me if you have any questions. Thank you, Kathy 8003808801

Since I don’t want to scorch the large box for my large laser, I don’t know if a fire with grab on to my plywood, but it’s got 2 coats of Fire-Poof, and I hope I don’t ever find out.
