Q:How do I tighten the blades? They are separating when I try to cut branches - I am staying perpendicular to the branches.

    Answer This Question

A:  Mark, thank you for contacting Fiskars. First, remove the Phillips-head screw (beside the pivot nut), then remove the nut-locking collar around the pivot nut. Then use a wrench to tighten the main pivot bolt to the point where the blade and hook are held together, but not so tight that the spring can't open the tool. Then replace the nut-locking collar onto the pivot nut so the hole in the collar aligns with the hole for the Phillips-head screw, and then replace and tighten the Phillips-head screw.

My small hand span easily manipulated the tool. 1” cutting span is good for mature brush and small bush care. Only 3-weeks usage, blade is holding its edge nicely. We’ll see how the season ends. So far very happy with Fiskars tool performance.

The cast handle broke, obviously a weak point in design
These shears worked great for awhile, then handle broke on a small 1/2" cut. Cast metal is not very strong. Maybe had a hairline crack if we dropped. Either way, don't expect to break. $29.98 Home Depot. IS THE HANDLE REPLACEABLE?

          Blade bent on first cut.
Right out of the package I tried to cut a 1/2 inch stem on an apple tree. Blade bent so bad can't even close pruners.

It came apart. The clamp that opens/close the jaws just came loose. Could've fixed it but I figured the money spent on this tool ,I shouldn't have to fix it. To make matters worst, the limbs I was cutting were not even the max. allowed! Was not pleased.

I bought these titanium pruners in hope that I would buy a premium product that would last. I used my pruners for 3 hours off and on cutting sprouts and briars. I never cut anything thicker than half inch. The pruners are rated for up to an inch. At first, I noticed the pruners cut like butter, but after a while they were not so smooth. After I finished up. I was going to oil the blade, but I notice that the blade was nicked and was binding against the shear. I am not sure if it is due to poor machining where the blade meets the shear, but I am sure that the tempering must be off for the blade to be damaged so easily. It gets me because there is so much information on the package about titanium, hardened steel, precision ground even for heavy use, etc. I don't feel like the product lived up to the promise I was given, and considering the price it is disconcerting. I will be returning these pruners.
