When it comes to tackling the fast-growing vegetation in any yard or garden, nothing is more versatile than the Fiskars Machete. Its 15 in. hardened steel blade with rust-resistant, low-friction coating allows for effortless cutting of thick branches, fibrous palms, and more, while its comfortable performance handle design offers multiple grips for a wide range of tasks. The handle features a textured pattern with large dimples for grip and small dimples on the palm side to prevent blisters, as well as a contoured Softgrip profile and handle flare to keep the tool in hand when swinging with maximum force. For added precision, the handle offers a long extended grip that lets you pinch closer to the blade. Plus, the blade's curved profile helps prevent it from getting stuck when powering through dense brush. Whether you're clearing large areas of brush, making precise cuts, or chopping with both hands, the Fiskars Machete has you covered. Plus, with a convenient nylon carrying sheath you can take it with you and trust it will last.

The Fiskars 15" Clearing Machete has a blade thickness of approximately 2.5 mm.
Thank you for contacting Fiskars. The 15" blade is ideal for clearing large areas of brush, cutting thick branches, powering through fibrous palms, and more in your yard and garden. It should be able to handle blackberry vines.
No it is not.
It's a sheath with a belt loop on it. I never used it but I did notice it was there.
Thank you for contacting Fiskars. Yes, this machete comes with a sheath.
Yes both
Stan, the 24" Machete is made in Vietnam.
24 inches. Great experience.
Thank you for contacting Fiskars. The overall length of this product is 24", and the blade is 15".
it doesn't have much edge, It took me a lot of work to cut the branches of my tree
The blade is 15". The handle and blade together are 24".
The blade is 24" long.
I had the same issue and used a grinder. Hand file was taking way too long.
I purchased this machete believing it would be an upgrade over the original fiskar machete. The blade on both appear to be made of the same material. I use a regular medium hand file to keep a nice cutting edge on the original. The original is very nice to use; lighter which means faster which means better cutting and less arm fatigue. I returned this one for a full refund because it simply would not perform for me.
Yes, mine is fairly dull also. I have to wack a few times and use to cut my "huge" birds of paradise.
I also was not happy with this. I had someone try to sharpen it. It got a little sharper. I went back to using my 50 year old machete.
Mine came without a sharp edge to it as well. I assumed this was a safety liability thing. I used a garden tool sharpener on it, and that gave it some edge, but I think I still want it sharper. I intend to try the garden tool sharpener a second time and see if that gets it where I want it. If not the blade has enough thickness that I believe I will be able to get it where I want it using a grinder without compromising the blade strength at all.
I had my son-in-law sharpen it at his metal working company. Sad to say but even after it was sharpened it remained unable to cut even thin tree vines. I question if it could cut it's way out of a paper bag. Sorry to sound negative, but I too have been very disappointed in this tool's performance ability.
It's not all that sharp when you buy it. I reground the edges and then used a stone to finish sharpening it.
The metal extends several inches into the matchete.
Since the handle does not expose the edges of the tang, it's impossible to tell how far through the handle it extends, but I don't feel any flexing between the handle and blade. I can tell you it does not extend the full length of the handle as the end of the handle is hollow up to about a half inch ahead of the hole through it.
It is. It is also surrounded by plastic, plan on wrapping the handle.
Thank you for contacting Fiskars. The tang on this machete extends several inches into the handle.
No. It appears to go bout 3/4 of the way though.
