It's a sheath with a belt loop on it. I never used it but I did notice it was there.

I bought it to cut Pampas grass. It is either dull from the Factory or not the right tool. If it is just dull from the factory, how do I sharpen it correctly?

I had the same issue and used a grinder. Hand file was taking way too long.

I purchased this machete believing it would be an upgrade over the original fiskar machete. The blade on both appear to be made of the same material. I use a regular medium hand file to keep a nice cutting edge on the original. The original is very nice to use; lighter which means faster which means better cutting and less arm fatigue. I returned this one for a full refund because it simply would not perform for me.

Yes, mine is fairly dull also. I have to wack a few times and use to cut my "huge" birds of paradise.

I also was not happy with this. I had someone try to sharpen it. It got a little sharper. I went back to using my 50 year old machete.

Mine came without a sharp edge to it as well. I assumed this was a safety liability thing. I used a garden tool sharpener on it, and that gave it some edge, but I think I still want it sharper. I intend to try the garden tool sharpener a second time and see if that gets it where I want it. If not the blade has enough thickness that I believe I will be able to get it where I want it using a grinder without compromising the blade strength at all.

I had my son-in-law sharpen it at his metal working company. Sad to say but even after it was sharpened it remained unable to cut even thin tree vines. I question if it could cut it's way out of a paper bag. Sorry to sound negative, but I too have been very disappointed in this tool's performance ability.

It's not all that sharp when you buy it. I reground the edges and then used a stone to finish sharpening it.

Is this "Full Tang", is the metal continuous from the blade through the entire handle?

The metal extends several inches into the matchete.

Since the handle does not expose the edges of the tang, it's impossible to tell how far through the handle it extends, but I don't feel any flexing between the handle and blade. I can tell you it does not extend the full length of the handle as the end of the handle is hollow up to about a half inch ahead of the hole through it.

It is. It is also surrounded by plastic, plan on wrapping the handle.

Single swoop to cut the large leaf from the banana
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machete is well balanced, and the handle fits comfortably when used to cut down banana leaves. We had been using a saw to cut our banana leaves, which took a lot longer. With this 24" machete, it reached the leaves, and with one swoop, we could cut the leaves with less effort. I would recommend that you wipe down your blade after you are done so the sap does not build up on the blade.

Last nice I processed a cedar pallet with it. It chopped through with ease and it was easy to control. Afterwords, just as sharp as when I started. We shall see how it holds up, but for now, I am impressed

This machete is extremely light weight and well balanced. The grip on this blade is soft, comfortable and form fitting. Unfortunately it is pretty cold out side right now so It is hard for me to test this tool out but I am more than sure it will make short work to small branches and shrubbery. Also if zombies rise from the ground you might want to purchase one of these. It comes with a nice sleeve that has a belt loop so you can mount it to your side. My only gripe was that it is difficult to snap the clasp on the strap that goes around the handle on the sleeve. They should have made that piece about a 1/4 of an inch longer.

                                                          Amazing must have!
This Machete is awesome! I’ve owned one for years now and it’s always been perfect for cutting tender and chunks of wood. The other reviewers are are probably trying to cut their toenails. Seriously it’s a great tool, it’s flexible and rigid at the same time.
