A:  Yes, usually by knowing the model toilet and date of casting (found inside tank) or by matching it up (product to product). Most toilets will accept a Fluidmaster fill valve if they are not low boy toilets(meaning shallow tanks).

A:  The height is adjustable. That said, there are some tanks that require an extremely short valve and these do not adjust down far enough to fit. Those would be the low-tank versions, very few of which are still in use, but I do have clients with them. For everything else, they should be applicable.

A:  Yes, You can make sure that the style of fill valve is similar to the one that comes in this kit. Same goes for the size of the flapper. If you measure the flapper or the hole that the flapper covers it should tell you whether you need a 2 inch or 3 inch. Now note that there will be different styles of flappers and you want to make sure you are getting the correct style for your toilet and for the amount of water that your toilet uses. The flapper in this kit is a considered a 2 inch and it's meant for toilets that use up to 3.5 Gallons per flush. A:  No, this flapper in this kit is a 502 and it's meant for toilets manufactured after 1994 because they're 1.6GPF or smaller. The 501 us a flapper for toilets that are manufactured before 1994 that are 3.5GPf or larger. A:  Yes can be used

A:  While this is the best choice for toilets made after 1994 (low flow) it IS DEFINITELY usable on older 3GPF/3.5GPF toilets - you just HAVE TO crank it all the way to the highest flow setting - don't try to save water by cutting back the max flow

A:  The box says it is 502CN3. I'm guessing it's 502 model and it is a 3 count.

A:  Yes, the flappers works well, it stopped leaks when the cheapest one didn't. The fill valve have nothing to do with flapper. One lets the water in the other lets it out.

A:  I don't know what the purpose of the hard plastic but if you look close you can see that it is fastenened securely I have installed 2 of these flappers in the last 2 years and never had any problems
