Questions & Answers

do you or do you not need a spool gun to weld aluminum

Asked by: Blksmith2
You can weld without a spool gun for aluminum but it is a more challenging task due to wire feeding problems such as bird nesting. If you do choose to go without a spool gun it is recomended to keep your torch liner as short as possible (4' max) and to keep it as straight as possible to help but not fully eliminate this problem associated with a standard mig torch. Its challenging and not recomended unless your laying down pounds and pounds of aluminum over a day which usually done with a push pull system which this mig welder does not traditionally support.

What is the recommended output for a generator to run this welder at full capabilities?

Asked by: Roy1195
Hello! At maximum output, this welder will consume nearly 12000W (12kW) of energy. You would need a generator that is capable of at least 12000 running watts. Thank you for your question!
