Product Details

The Armor SX5000 is a high solids, Department of Transportation approved, solvent-based Silane-Siloxane concrete sealer and masonry water repellent. It penetrates and chemically bonds deep within the substrate to provide long lasting protection against deterioration or staining due to water absorption. The Armor SX5000 will not impair the natural breathing characteristics of treated substrates, nor will it produce a film or coating. The Armor SX5000 will help concrete and masonry surfaces to resist common issues such as cracking, efflorescence, spalling, staining and other damages caused by intrusion of water. It will also help to reduce the formation of efflorescence and the growth of mold and mildew.
  • Contains up to 10 times more active materials than similar silane-siloxane sealers
  • Will maintain the natural, unsealed look of the substrate and will not leave behind a surface film or coating
  • Resistant to freeze thaw cycles, de-icing salts, mold and mildew and UV rays
  • Water and other liquids will bead off of sealed surfaces
  • Approved by the department of transportation as a water repellent sealer in several states
  • Even after the bead goes away, the sealer will continue to work in the pores for up to 7-10 years
  • Can be used to seal concrete driveways, brick chimneys, stone walls, pool decks, and more
  • Online price includes PaintCare fee in the following states: CA, CO, CT, DC, ME, MN, OR, RI, VT, WA

Q:Does this product prevent leaves from staining the concrete? How about oil? If not, is there a product that should be used in conjunction to prevent leaf and oil staining?
      by|Sep 12, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Sealers will not prevent leaf stains. When the leaves become wet, tannin stains leach out and deposit on a surface. Periodic cleaning with a high ph cleaner can help remove or reduce these stains. The SX5000WB is a water/salt guard and will not stop oil staining.

Q:Using a roller, how much overlap do you recommend?
        by|Aug 29, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  The SX5000 is thinner than water and usually applied with an acetone resistant pump sprayer fitted with EPDM rubber seals and hose. With a roller it tends to drip excessively. The least amount of overlap possible is recommended.

          Used to seal my driveway.
We live in a mountainous snowy area, so protecting our driveway was important. We used this product. It worked. As a bonus, they provided a $10 refund for submitting a review - think of it as a a $10 discount to make the pricing more inline with other options! Score!

            Water Beads!
We put this down a couple months ago and it PERFORMS! Keeps the water beaded and off of our concrete beautifully. I've never seen anything like it, it's like wax for concrete. You can't tell it's there and it doesn't change the color, but it works great.

              Sealed My Own Driveway
After waiting 30 days for my 550 sq. ft. broom-finished new driveway to cure, The hard part was trying to pour from the 5G container into my pump sprayer. Hard to tell if I had applied enough. Here are photos showing some beading.

                Great Product
Sealant was easy to apply and work work with. Coverage was even and dry time was shown in the instructions. I sprayed mine on using a Dewalt sprayer which worked well. Cleanup with soap and warm water was simple and effective.

                  DESIGNER UNDERWEAR
There is absolutely no noticeable difference in terms of appearance. But I think the repellent effect might be working. I followed the directions to the last word, but I am not satisfied because I was expecting at least a slight glow. I think this product is like wearing expensive underwear only you and your significant other know you are wearing a $250 underwear and nobody else notices.

                    Flag stone
Hawaii has wet issues common to our area. Tried different products but failed to seal for more than 3 months. Got the recommendation of Foundation Armor from a mason friend on the mainland. His years of use and results sold me. The application was easy, followed 24 hours of no moister to let it set and one year later so far it looks like when we first applied. Wow. Nothing better.

                      Does not repel water
Unfortunately, my experience wasn't nearly as good. I called foundation armor explained my project and they recommended sx5000 to protect from freeze thaws of winter and ar350 for the wet look on my pavers. Applied SX5000 per instruction which darkened pavers slightly which was fine however there was no water beading up on the surface. Contact foundation armor and they told me don't worry about it just apply the ar350 and you will get the beading of water and protection you desire. So I applied the ar350 next. Two coats per the instructions. Went on well and seemed to bring out the true color of the pavers like I wanted. Then it rained about 36 hours later on and off for over a week. Once the patio started to dry out I could see white spots in the lower lying areas of the pavers where the rain was able to sit for extended periods of time. I called foundation armor and they stated they wanted pictures so they could see. I provided pictures. They asked all the usual questions about how product was installed trying to find an error with my installation. Nothing there for them. So they then claim the chemistry in the pavers attacked the sealer rendering it no good without even doing any tests to come to this conclusion on my job site. They said the pavers were sealed to soon after installation. I explained my entire job to them while I was on the phone with them first time before ordering their product. We went over the product I was using "Cambridge" and that it was a newly constructed patio. Another issue with their theory is the fact that under over hangs and my porch there is no white spots from the water. I can wet it and the surface looks fine. I believe the time allotment for rain to follow installation is too short. It appears there is moisture inclusion in my paver sealer which will cost me over 5-6000 to repair. No help from foundation armor.Example: the drill was really easy to assemble, lightweight and not noisy. I am really pleased with the battery life and was able to use the drill without charging for over an hour of heavy duty use...

                      Cannot recommend, caused property damage
I applied this product as-recommended by the manufacturer. I live in Colorado, so it is dry, and had been dry for several days before I applied the product. I cleaned my driveway 48 hours before applying the SX5000. I did not apply to excess, I used the roll-on method. In another, test area, I used a light spray-on method. What you will see, in the images, is the negative effect caused by this product (staining). There is a change that this product can cause harm to your concrete - I've lived it. Be careful applying, and consider using a pro.
