Product Details

Want the kids to spend more time outdoors? Create an outdoor destination for them to get outside, explore their imagination and goof around! This simple project can be completed in a weekend with no tools required (other than a hammer or mallet). The extra-deep sandbox makes digging more fun and the roomy hexagon shape means there's plenty of space for siblings and friends. Our patented tool-free snap-lock brackets simply slide onto each end of a board and fasten securely with snap-lock buttons. Unlike wooden sandboxes that splinter (and are labor intensive), Frame It All boards and brackets go together with ease. Our composite sandboxes are made from sustainably sourced wood fibers and food-grade HDPE recycled plastic, so your children are safe from splinters and hazardous chemicals. Easy to maintain - simply wipe or spray clean when necessary. And unlike cheap plastic sandboxes, your Frame It All sandbox won't stand out like a sore thumb on your landscape. Our materials are so durable, your sandbox will still look great by the time the kids have outgrown it. The modular design of our product makes it easy to repurpose your sandbox as a raised garden bed or landscape edging later on. Telescoping Hexagonal Sandbox Canopy easily transitions to an attractive cover with the flip of a few levers. When used as a canopy it provides cooling shade and protects your child's exposed skin from harmful UV rays

Q:Does this include a ground barrier and if not is there a recommendation for one?

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot regarding 7 ft. x 8 ft. x 11 in. Hexagon Sandbox Composite with Telescoping Canopy/Cover (2 in. Profile). A liner is not included for this item. We recommend a high quality weed cloth. It will allow moisture if cover is forgotten to flow thru the sand and protect from weeds or grasses growing up thru the sand. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

    Canopy Just Doesn’t Work
The problem is with the canopy. If you live somewhere where the wind blows sometimes, this won’t work for you. The wind lifts the canopy right off (even in closed position) and tears it a part, and you’ll be chasing/searching for every part of every pole all over your and your neighbors’ yard again, and again, and again. It’s extremely flimsy and breaks VERY easily. Ours even came broken but the company was quick to send a replacement part. Still doesn’t hold up to the elements though. The sandbox is fine. It’s attractive and works. We got the double tall one and glad we did. Holds sand in better I think.

Excellent sandbox! Easy to set up and enough room for 3-5 kids to play comfortably. I was able to fill it up with 1 cubic yard of sand (bulk) that only costed me about $30. The kids love it!

It came in three separate boxes on three separate days. This would have been helpful to know. The sandbox went together really easily. I have an issue with the canopy since there is no way to solidly secure it. Any small gust of wind blows it right off.

For the cost, I was expecting a better made product. The assembly was super easy and I love the plastic panels, but the cheap small plastic caps that serve to hold the ENTIRE box together are a joke! The stakes that stack into each other to hold up the top set of panels do NOT secure into the ground stake at all and my 3 year old was able to lift them back out! 3 caps broke when we tried to connect and stake down the final stake. And when the sand was poured 3 more broke from the weight of the sand shifting against the panels. Its together with additional help from my handy husband. Yes,the kids absolutely LOVE it! The canopy is Awesome! I foresee an entire summer spent in here but I will no recommend this specific box to anyone. I was completely fine with the cost for the size, concept, and canopy until we received it and assembled it. But for $400 we should NOT have to figure out ways to keep the sides intact because of cheap plastic pegs being the the only thing keeping a 42 sq ft box of sand from falling apart! This should be more in the price range of $100-$150 tops. Create better fasteners, stakes that stay down, and thicker connecting pieces and this would be an amazing product!

The box itself is great and seems durable. We purchased the double level and it keeps the sand in the box. The canopy is good and bad. The design seems nice, and we like that it keeps things like leaves and animals out of the sand box, but the aluminum poles are terrible. When we first bought the sandbox (just over a year ago so of course the warranty is up) it was just annoying when lifting the canopy for the kids. The plastic caps that attach the green cloth to the metal telescoping poles are just resting on the top of the poles. They are not glued, nor do they click into place, but the whole green canopy could be lifted right off the poles if a strong wind came through. We never had gusts like that, so it was mostly annoying when I would have to replace part of the canopy onto its pole as I was walking around loosening and tightening the plastic release tabs to lift the whole thing. As the summer wore on and we opened and closed the canopy multiple times, we started noticing the aluminum bending at the top where the canopy rests on the poles. This, again, was concerning but still workable. This winter we got some snow so I would go out to brush off the extra weight occasionally. One day we looked out and the canopy had just collapsed! There was probably only an inch of snow on it, but apparently the flimsy aluminum poles had had too much. All but one snapped a few inches from the top where the plastic caps rest on the poles. This of course happened 13 months after purchase and the warranty is 1 year. We are looking into ways to salvage what is still a good cloth cover, but will not be purchasing another canopy to replace the poles that will probably just snap again in a year.
