    Answer This Question

Hi Nicole, thank you for your question. For model FFAD2234W1, the dehumidifier is designed for continuous use and can run 24/7 if needed. It automatically turns on and off based on your humidity setting, so it only runs when moisture levels require it. The unit also has a full bucket shut-off feature to prevent overflow, and regular maintenance like cleaning the filter and ensuring proper airflow is recommended for optimal performance. — Reed

What's the minimum room size in which Model # FFAD2234W1 can be used?

        Answer This Question

Hi there, thank you for your question. For Frigidaire Dehumidifier Model FFAD2234W1, there is no specific minimum room size requirement. Instead, it is designed to be used in an enclosed space with doors and windows closed, and it performs best in small to medium-sized areas based on its 22-pint capacity. For proper operation, the unit should have about 12 inches of clearance around it for airflow and be used within a temperature range of 41°F to 89°F (5°C to 32°C). — Reed

Where is the air exhaust located, and where is the air intake located on this unit since it doesn't seem to have any holes in the top?
          ByMay 5, 2026
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Hi LittleOleLady, the Frigidaire FFAD2234W1 dehumidifier draws air in through a rear intake where the filter is located and then removes moisture internally. The dried air is released back into the room through a side exhaust grille rather than a top vent. It is not a ducted system, so both intake and exhaust are built into the unit for recirculating air within the same space only. — Reed

Does this dehumidifier continue to sound like it’s on and running even once the set humidity level has been reached? For example I have set at 55 it’s reading 50 but still sounds like it’s running instead of shutting off

            Answer This Question

Hi Phillip! Thank you for checking with us. Yes, for the Frigidaire 22 Pint Dehumidifier (model FFAD2234W1), the fan will often continue to run for a short time (up to 3 minutes) after the set humidity level has been reached and the compressor turns off. This behavior is designed to allow the unit to continue circulating air to properly gauge the room's humidity and dry out the internal coils. We hope this helps! - Patrick

I plan on using a condensate pump with the dehumidifier and pump in a catch pan. Is it possible to hook up an automatic shutoff in case of overflow into the pan? Or recommend a dehumidifier that has a shutoff capability.

              Answer This Question

Hi there, our valued customer! Yes, it is possible to hook up an automatic shutoff for overflow protection on the Frigidaire FFAD6022W1, although it requires an external, aftermarket device. While the unit has a built-in safety switch that stops operation when the water bucket is full, it does not have a native sensor for an external drain pan. -Chris

                Does Not Last & Inefficiencies
I had this for 14 months then it developed a coolant system leak. It was not as efficient as I had hoped. It runs a lot without pulling out as much water as expected, generating extra heat, which requires your A/C to run more to cool the area down.

I’m truly sorry to hear that after 14 months, your unit developed a coolant system leak and has not been performing as efficiently as expected. Works well…very loudly
Package states library quiet at 48 decibels. Our testing has it over 60. Much louder than we were anticipating. We have an 1,100 sq ft home. Doesn’t matter where we run it. We can hear it. Will try returning it. Husband would rather listen to be complain about the humidity than live with its noise.

Thank you for your honest feedback—and for the bit of humor, too! We’re sorry to hear the unit didn’t meet your expectations in terms of noise level. Unit works great--design of bucket is lousy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our 2nd Frigidaire dehumidifier like this, so we knew what we were getting into. The unit itself works great. The major complaint is that the bucket is a terrible design. First, you have to pull the plastic lid apart to remove the handle so that the lid comes off. This feels like you are going to break the plastic. We just leave the handle off all of the time and awkwardly carry the bucket without it rather than try to take it on and off when we clean it. Second--rather than being like a bucket-- one big container that would be easy to clean- this one is shaped in such a way that there are a thousand tiny crevices that are nearly impossible to clean. We've used bottle brushes, toothbrushes--nothing reaches the mold and dirty water in those areas. And it's sharp. The plastic rather than being smooth and rounded has several extremely sharp pieces that stick out to stab you while you try to clean it. Whoever designed it clearly never tried to clean it or surely they would have come up with a better design.

Thank you for your feedback and for being a returning Frigidaire customer—we truly appreciate your continued support! We're glad to hear the dehumidifier is performing well overall, but we're sorry to learn about your frustration with the bucket design. Your detailed comments about the handle, cleaning difficulty, and sharp edges are incredibly helpful. It’s clear that the design could be improved for ease of use and safety, especially when it comes to regular cleaning and maintenance. We’ve shared your insights with our product development team, as real user experiences like yours are essential for making better design choices in the future. In the meantime, if you haven’t already tried using the continuous drain option (if your setup allows), it may reduce how often the bucket needs to be emptied and cleaned. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to connect with us via Live Chat at www.frigidaire.com or call us at 1-800-374-4432, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.–8 p.m. EST, and we’ll be happy to assist. Unreliable. Failed in 11 months. No warranty replaccement yet. Earlier rated it 5-stars for performance, but what is wrong with them that they break so fast?
Failed in 11 months. Unreliable. Symptom, besides only collecting a couple ounces of water per day instead of a bucket full, was the bottom 1/5 of the coils would ice up, and the remaining 80% of the coils would not get cold. Contacted Frigidare for replacement under warranty. The web-based warranty claim process is tricky: they many menu items to describe the problem that are basically all "operator error", like using it right up against a wall. My units failure symptoms were not in the pull-down menus. But they sent me an email saying they agreed to replace it. That was 3 weeks ago but they still haven't shipped anything. Now none of the coils even get cold the 1st 10-15 minutes the unit runs. Customer service cannot tell me when they will ship a replacement. I like the side discharge design of this model, but I regret doing a 5-star review for this earlier. Their quality has dropped off a cliff; my previous Frigidaire lasted 15 years.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re genuinely sorry to hear about the issues you’ve encountered with your unit. We understand how frustrating it can be when a product that initially meets your expectations starts to show problems, especially with a failure occurring so soon into ownership. We’re glad to hear that you liked the side discharge design, but we deeply regret that the unit didn’t perform as expected. The symptoms you’ve described with the coils freezing and a lack of cooling are certainly not typical, and it’s clear this issue has caused significant inconvenience. High Quality - Dependable Dehumidifier
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son has 3 of these units at his 2 story house with basement in Maine. He doesn't have a HVAC. He highly recommended this de-humidifier to me after 1.5 yrs of usage. I live in Austin, TX where the humidity climbs to 60% during days of continued rain or humid air flow off the Gulf of Mexico. I have a new HVAC (2.5 Ton 65 SEER), but I have to run it at freezing temperatures to reduce the humidity when it climbs into 60's%. But, not any more! I use the 22 pint Frigidaire when the above conditions occur & it restores humidity to my comfort level in less than 1 day. My apartment is 1,900 sq ft. The unit weighs 33 lbs, has 4 *quality* wheels & is easy to operate on manual or it can be programmed to come on for X hours or when the humidity level climbs outside your comfort zone. It's attractive and takes up the space of a medium sized indoor garbage container. When registering the product I discovered the unit is actually an Electrolux (see picture). Electrolux bought Frigidaire in 1986. I love Electrolux products / appliances!

It’s wonderful to hear that the 22-pint Frigidaire dehumidifier is making such a noticeable difference in your comfort—especially in a climate like Austin’s where humidity can sneak up fast. We’re glad your son’s recommendation worked out so well for you and that the unit is easy to move, operate, and efficient across your space. Also, you’re absolutely right—Electrolux is the parent company of Frigidaire, and we’re proud to carry that legacy of quality forward. It's the best dehumidifier for the price. Shipping and handling is pretty awful. This is actually a 2nd try at getting this delivered because the first one arrived VERY badly damaged. This one was damaged too, but not badly enough to not be able to use it. Crack on one side.

                            didn’t last 3 years
Bought this guy back in November 2021, started forming ice a week ago on the bottom half of the coil. Filters never get cloggee up, and I’m airdusting the coils every other month, so definitely not an airflow issue. I can feel air getting sucked through the coils when it’s running. Looks like it leaked refrigerant, and is unfixable at this point…
