Get crisp, clean lines on your next painting project with FrogTape Delicate Surface Painter's Tape. How does it work? It's made with PaintBlock Technology, a super-absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape to prevent paint bleed. The result is a crisp, professional paint line. Specifically designed to work on delicate surfaces such as fresh paint, coated wallpaper and decorative projects, this premium grade masking tape is perfect for when you need a lower adhesion level to help prevent surface damage.
  • Recommended for decorative painting
  • Treated with PaintBlock Technology that seals tape edges for very sharp paint lines
  • Recommended for use on finished wood, fresh paint (dry to the touch), coated wallpaper, veneer, laminate, vinyl and drywall (primed only)
  • Removes cleanly from most surfaces for up to 60 days
  • Premium adhesion to help eliminate the need for touch-ups
  • Interior use
  • Light adhesion
  • Test before use on all surfaces for complete compatibility with your substrate and coating

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question, Sandy. This tape is recommended for use on finished wood, fresh paint (dry to the touch), coated wallpaper, veneer, laminate, vinyl and drywall (primed only). If you wish to use it for your application, we would advise testing first.

A:  Thank you for your question, Betsy! We would not expect the Delicate Surface FrogTape to stick to carpet due to its low adhesion.

Q:Can this tape be used on kitchen cabinets where the wall meets to prevent paint on the cabinets. Also, will it remove any of the cabinets finished. Had it happen with another type of tape. Thank you in advance. David

A:  Hello. This tape is perfect for any paint job. It shouldn't remove the finish. I've had that happen to me before. That usually happens when we don't prep correctly, leave residue or dust. Or, if someone before you painted and didn't prep correctly, the paint will peel off easily. Good luck!

A:  Thank you for your question, David! Due to the variety of substrates and finishes, it is always recommended that a test to replicate use be conducted in an inconspicuous area before masking.

A:  It will prevent paint from getting on your cabinets.  I would use the Frog tape for delicate surfaces.  After painting, remove immediately.  It won't take the finish off the cabinets.

                    Ruined my wallpaper
Just bought a roll of delicate surface frog tape. Applied it very cautiously to my wallpaper surface, that has been in place for quite some time, whilst I ran a very fine bead of decorators caulk into a corner. Ran the caulk into the corner and removed the tape all within a few minutes. The frog tape took the whole surface off the paper. I am beyond disappointed.

                      Beware
I used this on the so i could mark the location for towel rings. When I took the tape off, some paint came off. It is a new house but was painted two months ago. Tape is supposed to be for delicate surfaces?

                        Too Weak for Textured Ceilings
Bought this tape based on reviews and its claims for working well on fresh paint. What a letdown! It is not strong enough to hold up paper on my textured ceilings. This is new construction. Hell, the tape couldn't even hold its own weight on the walls I taped off. See photos. I will try the green frog tape I guess, but I am super disappointed in this product.

                          Try it in the kitchen!
Yes this is great for painting…but put a roll of the delicate yellow tape in your kitchen drawer, too. I use it to label my frozen food containers (e.g. black bean soup), it can go through the dishwasher no problem & unlike masking tape, peels off easily whenever I want to replace it. Train your kids to use yellow tape for everyday uses & no more damage. Need to tape something on the window to trace? Or put up a sign on their door? Go ahead, comes off easily every time.

                            Peeled off ceiling paint
Ive professionally painted since 1984. This frog tape is only good for masking off surfaces such as glass or surfaces with no porosity. Works good on factory finished flooring but definitely not on drywall with a flat finish. After two days on it peeled straight to the drywall. I know we sealed that drywall 5 years previously with Ben Moore drywall primer and Ben Moore Regal Select. Definitely not impressed.

Worst tape ever - worse than regular tape
This was the absolute worse - it stuck to my paint and peeled off whole sections - I am going to have to redo so much - I mean patches in 3- 4 feet by 6 inches to a ft - it ruined my whole paint job - this tore up the whole room - how is this delicate - how - if I could give this a negative 5 stars I would. They should change it to PAINTREMOVE Technology

We are very sorry to hear about the paint tear. When paint lifts like this, it is an indication that it did not make a complete bond to the surface. Unfortunately, there are too many variables involved in how paint cures (such as how many coats, dark colors, humidity and temperature), so we can't say for sure why this happened.

I am sooooo angry with this tape. It’s peeling up my paint as I take it off. This is the worst paint tape in the world. Don’t buy this. It takes up my primer too underneath it too. Lies lies lies, huge scam

We are very sorry to hear about your experience with FrogTape. When fresh paint lifts like this, it is an indication that the paint underneath did not make a complete bond to the surface, and there are many variables that play into the curing process.
