Q:Can Frog tape be used on pavement?

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question! The tape should stick; however, depending on your application, it may not be the best tape to use.

A:  Hi Dana, Yes, it can be. Might be one of the few surfaces that exist that when you remove the tape, it won't pull the paint and suface off on the back side of the tape. 3M Delicate tape sold by Home Depot is a far superior option than this tape.

Q:Can this tape be used on brick surfaces? We need to spray paint our outdoor shutters as they have...

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes absolutely. Just make sure you have a decently clean surface to apply the tape to and you're golden.

A:  Thank you for your question! Taping off a textured surface is difficult because it is hard to lay the tape down completely flat. You could use the FrogTape and then run a bead of painting caulk along the edge to add more protection against paint bleed, especially if the brick is porous or is unpainted.

A:  won't work well on brick, works well on flat surfaces. Might as well use the regular blue tape.

        Great item
Repainting my wife’s office at home was on our list of things to do. My wife wanted specific colors, but she also wanted an accent wall with stripes I’ve had issues with other masking tape where you could bleed under because the tape does not give you a sealed edge, frog tape was an option but I shade away at first because of the cost but decided to purchase anyway because I wanted to do the job right the first time. Boy I’m glad I did. The frog tape worked tremendously and the project came off without a hitch . Once again, you get what you pay for, so paying a little more for frog tape in my world was worth it. Thank you again for an awesome product.

          Works like it should.
Have used Frogtape for many years on my paint projects and as long as you prep your surface, you're good. Sharp lines!

            DO NOT RECOMMEND
Used FrogTape on my walls so I could paint baseboards, literally ripped the paint and gyproc in some place. I have used frogtape before, and had good results. Now we have a whole new expensive job of fixing the walls and painting…significant time and money. NOT IMPRESSED!!

              Garbage Product - don't use!
I used this to tape off my ceiling so I'd have a nice sharp line between ceiling and walls, it was applied for approx 48 hrs and the paint had almost 20 hrs dry time. When I peeled it off it took the wall paint with it. Now I'll need to re-tape (another brand) and repaint all over again. Doubled my work effort.

Hi! We are very sorry to see you had some paint tear while using FrogTape. When old paints lifts like this, it is an indication that it did not make a complete bond to the surface. We recommend removing the tape while the paint is still wet. If the paint dries and you notice that the paint is pulling up with the tape, or that the paint is cracking along the paint line as you remove the tape, score along the edge of the tape with a razor blade before removing.
                Peeled paint off the walls
We bought this when redoing our bathroom, today we taped to paint the trim. The paint was of for 4 hours. Now we have to repaint the walls, as we took the take off it made bubbles in the wall and peeled paint off down to the dry wall.

Hello! We are so sorry to see that FrogTape pulled the paint off of your bathroom wall. When fresh paint lifts like this, it is an indication that the paint underneath did not make a complete bond to the surface, and there are many variables that play into the curing process. Don't use this tape!
I used this tape today to protect my cabinets while painting and it took the stain off of them.

Hi Kathy! We are sorry to see that FrogTape took the stain off of your cabinets. The Multi Surface FrogTape (green) is best used on unfinished wood, while the Delicate Surface FrogTape (yellow) is best used on finished wood.
                    Disappointed!!!
I just bought my first house and wanted to do everything right so I purchased frog tape 5 rolls needless to say very expensive. I waited 3 days to tape the wall that was painted first, then when I type it off it type the paint with it so disappointed.

                      No Better Than Blue.
Sorry, FrogTape, you are no better than standard blue painters tape. After doing four other accent walls with blue painters tape (and having to do touch-ups when done) I finally broke down and bought a roll of your tape. I used it on my last small wall with hopes your claim would ring true and I wouldn’t have the headache of the same touch-ups I had to do before with Blue. Unfortunately yours was only a tad better, if that. Not worth the extra $. Sorry! I gave it a shot.

                          Terrible product
Product is absolute garbage. Specifically asked for frog tape brand, paid more than competitors price. Peeled the paint right off the wall! Throwing remaining rolls in the trash

Hi Stan! We are sorry to see that FrogTape pulled the paint off the wall. When paint lifts like this, it is could be an indication that it did not make a complete bond to the surface. Unfortunately, there are too many variables involved in how paint cures (such as how many coats, dark colors, humidity and temperature), so we can't say for sure why this happened.
