From a cross-section view, what are the x and y dimensions? It it the 1/2"?

Yes it's 1/2" thick (the white part). The smaller/thinner black portion with the little white strips is what gets tucked/pushed into the small gap/opening running along the door opening. I found slowly using a flathead screwdriver to install it worked the best. Get it started at the top and then slowly work your way down. I ended up cutting it once I got it all installed, and that way I made sure I got the length right (didn't cut it ahead of time).

how to install , do you need nails ?

First check your door to be sure this is the right product. There should be a slot where the weather seal pushes into. You have to pull out the old seal and there can be small staples placed about 2 or three feet apart holding it in. You need to pull out those staples or the new gasket won't go in the slot where they are. I used a sharp chisel to cut them off because I couldn't get them out. You could cut a small slot out of the new seal to fit around the staples if wanted. The new seal just presses in and generally no nails are needed. There tons of door makers and ways they did things in the past. It's a question of how anything might fit or if it will fit at all. If your old door doesn't have a seal or it's different than this one then this one won't work.

Can this be used on a glass sliding door

I purchased a different one and then this one on line p/u in store and neither fit both were to thin. So I cut a 2" piece off the old one installed and took it to HD and returned this one. A guy helped me find the exact match. Save your self the hassle I went thru of ordering 2 different ones and returning them to the store 4 trips total. Just cut a piece off yours and go to HD to find the exact match.

Is this product foam? I need to replace a piece on our door that our cat has suddenly decided to shred to pieces.

Sticky back seal on the door would be cheaper than replacing what you bought. The way to do it right is buy a new seal kit over 3/4 inch too make gaps disappear

Feels like nice quality compared to my super flimsy stripping. Easy to install with a flat head screwdriver to push in the seal which fit snug. Already started to feel like the warm air is staying out in the Florida heat. Happy that it's recyclable.

Thin kerf, not good for older doors
Used on several doors in a 25 yr old home and die to natural warpage in doors, this elite weatherstrip sealed unevenly. 1 door of 3 does not allow light through the kerf. Install was easy. Good feel, quality materials, but not good for an older doors.

This works a dream, only criticism is that the way it is wrapped up in a circle leaves flat spots in the stripping once installed. Also that one pack is not enough to treat an entire door frame. You’ll need to buy three packs and waste half of the third for the top of the door frame.

I never thought this would be such an easy replacement job for my door, but I was totally happy it came out without frustration for a DIY'er. The old weather strip pulled out very easily from the slotted indent all in one piece, which allowed a perfect length to be replicated to the new strip. Starting from the top, once it was successfully pressed into place, the rest of the way down was easy, except at the very end which required pressing & repressing until it finally stayed in. The door closed perfectly with no extra pressure needed to close the door, and the sealing of the cold air from outside couldn't have been better.

84 + 84 + 36 = ...
... 3 boxes. Hey Frost King, why does this product come in 84" lengths? That's one box for each vertical side of a door. What about the width (36") along the top? What should I do with the remaining 48"? Careful now with your answer!!!

Was ultimately able to persuade it into place with a 1/4 socket extension. Has some kinks owing to being coiled up in package but should settle into place in time.
