AnswersMy door is 36" and was a perfect end-to-end fit. No trimming required. There is no room in my frame for it to have been any longer either. Just cut to fit door unless your frame has some kind of obstruction such as deadbolt or security sensor.
fins are 5/8?

AnswersSorry, installed mine before I saw this, so cannot measure. Based on the old one, they are more like 2 or 3/8 tall. But it appears to be a standard, so should fit a door that has the grooves for installation.
What is the range of space beneath the door that this product handles?

AnswersWorks best at about 1/4" but no more than 3/8". Less than 1/8" may cause issues with getting your door closed. So short answer 1/8" - 3/8".
I am replacing the existing weatherstrip (same as this). Do I need to take the door down to install the new strip?

Did not last
I installed three of these to replace the OEM bottoms that were failing after 13 years of use. Two of three failed after about 1 year where the fins started to tear off. The one that did not fail is on an interior door protected from the elements. I decided to track down the OEM bottoms and install these to replace the failing Frost Kings. I believe the key difference is that the OEM did not manufacture these out of cheap PVC. Save yourself the time and trouble and find quality bottoms elsewhere.

Bugs no more
I purchased an older home and had the usual inspection. A few days after moving in the bugs moved in with us. Everything that could crawl came in. I called a home pest service. They were all too willing to have me sign an expensive pest control contract.
I looked around and the door had torn stripping on the bottom.
Looking online, I found the stripping in the right size for the door and it was in stock. I went to the store and within an hour the door and bug problem were over. Very easy to install.

Did not last!
This replacement bottom did not last very long, in my opinion. I have a 32 inch pre-hung Stanley steel door purchased from Home Depot in 2002. The original lasted about 8 years. I replaced it with after-market universal fits several times. Found this one at HD and gave it a try. I had to trim to size, which wasn't at all difficult with a sharp utility knife. It seemed to fit good with no drag or binding. In other words, it just "touched" the threshold as it should. It only lasted 2 months until one thin sweep came off, followed by another the next week. Then about three weeks later the rounded "outside piece" peeled off. Gotta due it again with el Nino on the way toward my west facing door!
