The 7/8 in. x 17 ft. Self-Adhesive V-Seal Weather-strip has a built-in hinge that allows it to compress full to fill gaps around doors and windows, sealing out drafts, dust and water. This V-seal is made to fill very narrow gaps and holds its shape for years. It is effective on both windows and doors.

Q:Can I use this to close a gap between the door and the jamb. I have had some settling and the privacy molding does not provide the privacy it should.

A:  Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,This product is for very narrow gaps. It should help seal the space if it is less than 3/8” wide.

      A:  This product is designed for sealing exterior doors.  A refrigerator door has a larger gap, that requires a rubber gasket, to seal the larger gaps and also provide some insulation at the door seal. I do not think this product would work on a refrigerator door.

          A:  Personally, I wouldn't try it. This material I feel is too stiff for that application.

            A:  I wouldn’t, I don’t think it’ll last. It’s not durable enough for that much activity. And it’s pretty stiff.

              A:  Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The V-Seal will not adhere consistently to caulk. It is designed for hard smooth surfaces such as wood or Sheetrock. The product does not lend itself to being painted.

                  A:  Once installed, you fold it in half to create the seal. The folded edge sticks out a little, to seal against the door itself. Every time the door opens, the folded part opens slightly to make a tight seal when the door is closed. It will never return to the flat position, like it is shipped, once it is installed and folded over.

                      Just Not a Barrier
                      The packaging which rolls the material in a tight circle, causes the strip to twist and loose effectiveness when installed. Could not add pictures? showing distortions so no seal is made.

                      Poor quality control
                      This stuff has worked great in the past. But this last roll has no springiness to it so it lays almost flat and won’t even seal an 1/8” gap. Bought the M-D version from Ace and worked perfectly

                        I cleaned my windows with alcohol the night before and then put the strips on the following day. ...
                        I cleaned my windows with alcohol the night before and then put the strips on the following day. Within 2 hours all of them had un-stuck and rolled away. I tried again and the same thing happened. The instructions do not even ask you to clean surface. This product sounded to good to be true and they are not true.

                          It effetely decreased wind (along with small dust particles) going...
                          It effetely decreased wind (along with small dust particles) going through a small gap between the door and the door frame -- the gap is wider at the bottom and much narrower in the middle. But the un-glued part (without self-adhesive) is "wavy", meaning, not a very tight seal -- less rigid material might be better? also, option of a wider strip would be great too!
