Q:Can I spray shellac with this system
by|Oct 28, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  You can definitely spray shellac with the Semi-PRO 2 spray system. You would want to get the 1.0mm air cap set for it as the coating's consistency is similar to water. - Fuji Spray Team -

A:  you most likely can, it's designed for poly and paint. Paint I thin down.

    by|Nov 16, 2022

A:  Yes. I used the 1.3MM and sprays Shellac great.

Q:Has anyone sprayed oil-based poly with this for a fine finish? I?m looking to finish some furniture and the brand of poly I prefer is Old Masters - they recommend not thinning. Would I need to thin oil based poly with this sprayer? Thanks!

Q:Can this be used to resurface a bathtub

          Answer This Question

A:  You can but will not give you professional results. This Semi-PRO 2 equipment is too underpowered for bathtub resurfacing. We recommend going with a 4 or 5-stage spray system (Mini-Mite 4 or Mini-Mite 5). - Fuji Spray Team -

          by|Oct 3, 2022

A:  My guess would be no. You have to thin down some paint. But, I don't know the thickness of the product that you are using. Hope this helps.

Q:Can you spray upside down with this unit ?

              Answer This Question

A:  The machine looks very attractive and economical, but when using it, it presents several problems. One of them is the lid of the jar, this is not tight and uncovers by itself when the spray is made and the paint is watered, we tried it with several paints. It also does not give a good spray on the finished product. It takes too much time and multiple coats for an acceptable finish.

              by|May 5, 2022

A:  No, you can get the 3m cup system and you will be able to.

Best Small Sprayer on the market!
I own the Fuji Q4 sprayer now for 3 years. I've sprayed many Kitchens with that system. I added the 2 quart pot to my Q4. I bought the Semi Pro for a touch up gun on the job. I'm confident that this sprayer will be perfect for everything I need. Will update my review once I begin using it. I've wondered if I can use the 2 quart pot with the Semi Pro. I mainly use Lacquer and WB products with this system. Fuji is also incredibly quick with customer service and response when needed!

Unfortunately the 2Qt pressure pot is not compatible with the Semi-PRO 2 on its own. Minimum of a 4 or 5-stage turbine is required to pressurize the pots. Otherwise a compressor will be required to pressurize the pot and the Semi-PRO 2 turbine will be used for atomizing air to the spray gun. FujiSpray

                  Beautiful Results—Definitely a Learning Curve
This is my first HVLP sprayer and it was a great decision to buy this one. I restore vintage tube radios and I have always used rattle can spray lacquer for the wood cabinets. The Semi-Pro 2 is simply awesome. There is a learning curve and it took practice on scrap wood to get the finish just right. It applied the satin lacquer smoothly and evenly. Also, this sprayer reeks of quality. Everything is solidly built and nothing looks cheap or junky. Cleanup after spraying is remarkably easy, too.

Great Spray System with a few small issues.
I have had the Fuji Semi-Pro 2 for about 2 months now and it is a nice spray system and worth the price. If you do not have a need for a high capacity air compressor this is a good alternative. The down side is that you must go slow to get good coverage. It would be nice if the end of the hose that connects to the turbine was on a swival like the end that attaches to the gun. And maybe if it were QD as well. I do like the fact that the same gun (Fuji Model M) can be used with gravity fed or bottom fed. I have the gravity fed one and was able to use the bottom feed 3M Pps 2 adaptor with it that I ordered by mystake. I highly recommend getting set up with the 3M PPS 2 system. It saves so much prep time and clean up time. You can also store finishes you don't use up. I mostly spray latex coatings and had to buy the bigger 1.8mm tip so I did not have to dilute my finishes so much. Works really well for painting bookshelfs and cabinets. I'm not sure I would use it to paint walls or larger areas as you have to go slow. You do end up with a nice finish when you get the adjustments right.

I've been using a Homeright Super Finish Max Sprayer for the last couple years and it has performed admirably considering its price, but I finally decided to upgrade. I was originally considering the Earlex 5500 system, but I paid up and went with this Fuji Semi-Pro 2 after reading a bunch of reviews. The build quality seems superb. I've used it so far to spray polycrylic and also a water based cedartone stain and it has been amazing. The Fuji sprayer is nice because you can adjust your spray pattern to the perfect fan size and spray amount for the project you are doing. I also noticed that it doesn't produce near as much overspray as the Homeright sprayer I'm used to. This sprayer was awesome for the detailed cedar lattice work piece that would have been nearly impossible to apply by brush. It took me less than 3 minutes to spray all three pieces. The turbine motor unit is pretty loud, but I always use earbuds for music when I'm spraying so it didn't bother me. Cleanup is relatively quick and easy - just have a tray or something on hand so you don't lose any parts. I haven't had the Fuji for long, but so far, so good! Would definitely recommend.

Sprayer arrived nicely packaged. I read other reviews that claimed it was ready to go out of the box. I was very pleased with the quality feel of all the components. I followed the directions, set up was a breeze. I thinned an Ben Moore alkyd paint, timed it thru the funnel, and WOW. I couldn't be happier. A perfect finish on bamboo/rattan furniture. Not a single drip. I can't wait for my next project!

I have always used my airless sprayer for small projects like doors and cabinets but have gotten amazing results with this sprayer. I purchased the 2.0 and 1.8 tips because I have only sprayed a pre cat lacquer and a latex paint.

Did considerable research on quality HVLP paint systems. In addition to the best reviews, the Fuji Semi-Pro 2 was also the best priced for a top-end system. The design and quality of this system is very good. The turbin compressor is reasonably quite, maintains consistent pressure and runs cool. Although the hose looks like a typical garden hose, it's not. I've never used a paint hose that easily unrolls itself as it pivots on the spray gun connection, and then rolls back up as necessary (how do they do that!). And the M-Model gravity spray gun is a dream to use and easy to clean. At the end of the day, the final test is the quality of the job, and this system is increadible! I painted 10 kitchen cabinets and have never seen them done at the quality that this system delivers, and it's not me... this is my first time painting cabinets. I couldn;t have messed this up if I tried. Yes, the system is that good! Pellarini from Virginia

Overall, an excellent tool for a DIY'r or small shop needing a better spray tool. I took off a star for a few nuances. The turbine is required to be on the floor, but the on/off switch is on the bottom. The turbine is loud with a high pitch whine that I found irritating. Another nuance is, I felt the system was a little underpowered and last, the hose adds fatigue while spraying. No biggies. Other than that, I would highly recommend this Fuji system. The gun has an excellent rubber grip. The small cup was easy to refill without shutting off the motor. The fan adjustment was very good and easy. I have yet to experience any damaging over spray using the #3 aircap tip(other sizes available) that comes with this package. The atomization is remarkable regardless of what I put through the gun. Particularly polyurethane or spar urethane. No air bubbles within the finish. Cleaning the gun is in typical fashion though a quick flush out technique is not recommended as my experience is wasting new material flushing out old, even after a few days idle time. Taking the spray nozzle apart is simple and quick and makes for a far better cleaning. The learning curve is relative to what you are spraying, but any frustration dissipates with practice. The booklet that comes with this unit is basic but informative. There are numerous videos available on this product on the world wide web that are excellent educational tools and I highly recommend them. The website fujispray.com is loaded with informational resources. Technical support is through an e-mail or toll free number. Accessories and parts are also available.
