WeatherSide fiber cement siding is the one and only solution for replacing or repairing old asbestos siding shingles. It is available in a variety of sizes and shapes to match many of the old siding shingles installed over the last 60-years. Unlike some of the original siding shingles that it replaces, WeatherSide pre-primed siding shingles contain no asbestos. It is easy to install, after properly removing the old siding, simply nail the WeatherSide siding in place and paint. WeatherSide is even resistant to warping, denting, rotting, expansion/contraction and termite infiltration.

How many bundles for 2200 square foot house.

Stan, is the 2200 sq ft the area of wall you are covering or the area of the floor in your home. You need to determine the wall surface, like you do for buying gallons of paint. If the 2,200 number is your wall surface the specs say each bundle will cover approx. 33 sq ft. So you would need 2200/33= 67 bundles. At 110 bucks a bundle you are really looking at an expensive siding job. 67 x 110 = 7,370 dollars. I would be contacting a siding company for a bulk price instead of doing this by the bundle purchase.

What backing is needed to install these? Plywood? If so, how thick.

Hello, 7/16" OSB or 1/2" Plywood works well. The substrate should be in good shape and be able to hold fasteners. Thank you for your question.

The shingles are a special order, so you must buy them by the bundle. I have not seen single shingles sold in the store in a decade unless it was a return HD was looking to resell.

Great to find an asbestos-free siding product to repair my house. It was a perfect match for my appx 20-year old siding. There were pre-drilled holes which were great in helping to install the product and prevent breaking or cracking of the siding.

All shingles we broken when received.
All the shingles were broken when we got them. it was under the label so it wasn't seen until a week and a half later when we opened it to put them on. Unfortunately we had to try to make it work as is because we didn't have time to wait for another order to come in since they're not sold in the store and my husband only had a little time off work to put them up. We may need to possibly order more but now I'm afraid to order them because I'm afraid that when we get them they're all going to be broken again. the product itself went up easily except the holes were too low to put with the other siding that was already on the house so we had to drill new holes for the nails.
