Questions & Answers

Can these nails be used to fasten slats on a wooden fence
ByApr 22, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

The Weatherside 1-3/4 in. White Siding Nails are specifically designed for fastening fiber-cement siding, not for general-purpose wood applications like fence slats. While technically they could be used to fasten wooden fence slats, they are not ideal for that purpose. Here’s why: Material and Coating: These siding nails are often coated to resist corrosion in fiber-cement siding applications. While this corrosion resistance is beneficial, they may not have the holding power or structure best suited for wooden fence slats. Length: At 1-3/4 inches, the nails might be slightly short for securely fastening thicker wooden fence slats to fence rails, depending on the slat thickness. Application Specificity: These nails are optimized for siding installation, not for general wood construction. For wooden fence slats, you should use nails or screws specifically designed for outdoor wood applications, such as: Galvanized nails: Prevent rust and ensure durability in outdoor conditions. Deck screws: Provide greater holding power and are resistant to weathering. If this is for a fencing project, I recommend using screws or nails specifically labeled for wood fencing to ensure durability and proper fastening.

How many nails are in a bag of nails?
    ByMar 30, 2025

    Answer This Question

The number of nails in a bag of WeatherSide white siding nails can vary depending on the product packaging and manufacturer specifications. Typically, a bag contains approximately 100 nails, but it's always best to check the specific product details or packaging for the exact quantity. If you're purchasing the nails separately or as part of a kit, the quantity should be clearly stated on the label. Make sure to verify this information to ensure you have enough nails for your project.

Hello, we recommend hand nailing the product through the predrilled nail holes in the product using white galvanized siding nails. Thank you

          By|Apr 5, 2024

You have to use a hammer cause with a framing nailer you  Might damage the siding

            By|Nov 11, 2023

If you are using these for their intended purpose which is to install Fiber Cement siding shingles, you must nail by hand. These shingles are very brittle and break easily.

              By|Dec 29, 2022

No.  The replacement siding I used had pre-drilled holes for the siding nails.  I gently tapped the nails into the siding shingle so I wouldn't crack the siding shingle.  If you could use a nailer, I'm almost positive it would crack the shingle upon impact.  It was fairly easy to nail the shingles by hand.  The shingles had 3 pre-drilled holes per shingle.

                  Answer This Question

Hello, these hot dipped galvanized siding nails have a nominal head size 3/16" (.1875"). If your local code jurisdiction requires a different size head, we would recommend a hot dipped galvanized siding nail be used that also meets their specific siding nail head diameter requirement. Thank you.

The only issue I had was my first order was packaged without any protective corners and was damaged beyond use. The second order was shipped directly to Home Depot but also no proper packaging.
