Thanks so much for being part of the GE Appliances family. Warm or hot air coming from under or behind the dehumidifier is normal and part of the dehumidification process. The lowest possible dehumidification point is 35%. Stay safe and keep in touch! - John@GEAppliances

Hey there, we're very sorry your new dehumidifier isn't collecting water. This is not the experience we expect for our customers so we're happy to help. Try to reset the dehumidifier by disconnecting power for 30 seconds and re-connecting the power. If problems persist, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). We're wishing you the best. - Guy@GEA

Sight increase in electric bill. Small price to pay compared to possible damage due to moisture.

Does the fan shut off when the compressor turns off or does the fan continually run all the time?

Asked by Help September 27, 2020
1
Answer

Hi - Thanks for viewing GE Model # ADEL45LY! If not set in continuous mode, the compressor will turn off when it reaches the set relative humidity level. The fan should turn off about 3 minutes after the compressor cycles off. There are factors that could affect the dehumidifier fan operation. We suggest viewing the following link- DEHUMIDIFIER FAN STAYS ON, WILL NOT SHUT OFF: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=22031 - We hope this is helpful. do you use fans with the humidifier?

Asked by DD August 9, 2020

Answers

Hi DD - Thanks for considering GE! The use of fans is not required. For best results, place your dehumidifier near the center of the area that you wish to dehumidify. Good air circulation within an enclosed area is essential. Allow at least 18" of air space on all sides of the unit for good air circulation. Doors and windows should be kept closed. It is 45 pints. There are 8 pints in a gallon. So it holds 5.6 gallons of water.

Will it turn back on automatically after a power is off. Without pressing power button?

Hi Dave0690 - Thanks for viewing GE! Yes, in the case of a power outage or interruption, the unit will automatically restart, in the settings last used, after the power is restored. If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask, we are also happy to help at GEAppliances.com! Sue

She's a sucker
This machine is incredible. Not only keeps my basement nice and dry but makes the basement much warmer. Removes a full bucket on a daily basis. Has the option to continually drain to a sump or floordrain. Would highly recommend!!!!!

I have been running it for a month straight without issues. It is quiet and has a nice, clear blue LED display. Really knocks the moisture out of my basement. No complaints.

So far, so good.
I turn it on and, several hours late, return to empty the reservoir. It's pretty interesting to see how much water is just in the air. If I could just nitpick one thing, every part of the display says something about the state of the dehumidifier ("on" because it's on, "low" because the fan speed is low) except the light that means "full" says "empty", indicating that it needs to be emptied. It's inconsistent is all.

I recommend this dehumidifier. The previous one I had which is not a GE product only lasted 2 years and didn't really help with the humidity. It has only been one week since I purchased this dehumidifier, and my basement is very dry and comfortable.

great unit
I picked this up a little over a month ago after a flood. This moves a lot of air, fills the tank at least 3 times a day, and the basement is noticeably drier. If you're on the fence, I understand. This is a solid one.

Working fine so far. Easy to set up and use, relatively quiet. But... dehumidifiers I’ve bought in the last few years have only lasted 2-5 years. They used to last 20 years. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re made in China - like this one - or design cheapening.

This dehumidifier is very sleek looking. It’s very quiet. I just pulled it out of the box. We’ll see how it does

Compact and quiet
After using only a month, it seems very efficient and fairly quiet, and keeps my She Shed very dry! Fits nicely at the bottom of the steps .. smaller than previous dehumidifiers I've owned.

After a month of operation, so far it works very efficiently and is keeping my 'She Shed' dry ! Fairly quiet. Easy to maneuver and smaller than previous dehumidifiers I've had, so it fits well at the bottom of a landing. Still haven't connected a drain hose - directions are a little unclear, although I haven't spent a lot of time reading them so it might just be that!
