Questions & Answers

Is the cord 5 feet, 4 inches long or is it 5.4 feet long (which translates to 5 feet, 4.8 inches)?

Is the cord 5 feet, 4 inches long or is it 5.4 feet long (which translates to 5 feet, 4.8 inches)?
Asked by: Confused
When I see something that gives me pause I go to the Product Overview and in this case it states: 3-wire, 5 ft. 4 in., 13 Amp cord. Yes, the measurements were rather mixed up as in the overview it states 5' 4 feet, but in the bulleted section it does clarify. Personally, it shouldn't make a difference between 5 ft 4 in and 5 ft 4.8 in. If it does you should probably just go with a longer cord.

Does this cord need to be purchased separate from the GE Dishwasher I am buying? Does GE really sell large expensive appliances without power cords?
Asked by: Dee
I don't think any of the manufacturers include a power cord with their dishwashers. You many be able to reuse your old one but you won't know until installation. I would buy one to have on hand and you can always return it if you don't need it.

What gauge wire is in the 6 ft 3-prong cord for built-in dishwashers?

Asked by: GoneMadOverCord
Was going to use this for a disposal plug, but if it is 16 gauge as the GE rep answers here, and I have 14 gauge wire coming from the disposal, I will not be able to meet code and use. I will buy just the plug in portion and build a pigtail from 14/2 so as not to have a lighter gauge wire coming from the recep to a switch with heavier gauge wire coming from the disposal.

Yes and it simply popped right into the appropriate socket on my Amana (Whirlpool) dishwasher
