Q:what is the advantage of a dehumidifer with a pump. I want to drain into sump
      by|Jan 31, 2023

      Answer This Question

A:  Had same issue.  Instead of routing to a sump, I directed the pump hose along the basement wall to the floor drain.  Worked well all summer.  Make sure you keep the filter clean to avoid unnecessary system shutdown due to Filter Alarm.

      by|Feb 6, 2023

A:  We used the pump when it was in a room with no drain. We had to run it through another room to get to the drain & the pump did that.

        by|Feb 7, 2023

A:  That's a great question! The built-in pump makes things more convenient. It allows water to be drained to any location up to 16 feet away. Should you have any additional questions, please reach out to us!- Kianna@GEA

A:  Hello! We're sorry to hear of your troubles, but we're happy to help. The bucket must be properly seated for the dehumidifier to operate. We recommend making sure the bucket is secure. Should you have any additional questions, please reach out to us!- Kianna@GEA

            by|Feb 2, 2023

A:  Check the bucket .  It can be installed slightly crooked enough to initially start then vibration cause the disconnect.  Bucket has to be properly installed or it will shut down thinking it’s full even though you have a hose attached.  I sometimes have to basically slam the bucket in.

              by|Feb 4, 2023

A:  I had the same issue on a different dehumidifier and some sort of slime was blocking the drain hole back a little ways into the dehumidifier. I have to clean the slime out every 1-2 years.

This equipment was easy to set up, literally push button and go. Immediately we could feel its efficacy and high capacity to dry up the air in our Minnesota basement. It is a beast and it is NOT too loud when compared to other units we have had. If you use it on your apt. or main floor well perhaps yes, but IMHO this is just the thing for avoiding humid basement during the snow melt. The standard hose connect eliminates the need to empty out the water collection bucket, so this has basically been running on auto-pilot since day one.

I'm happy with this purchase. It dried the basement out really quickly and efficiently. It's really quiet. It does not come with the drain hose. And it's plug doesn't stick right out. So it's only a slight challenge as I have 2 plugs like this and it's a little forced.

                  Replacing after 12 years!
I purchased the 50 pint model almost 12.5 years ago and it was going strong until recently (don't know exactly when it died, but within the last week). I live 200 feet from the river and our house was built in the 50's, so it ran pretty much continuously 9 months out of the year since April of 2010! Can't complain about that!

                    Lasted three years
This lasted three years. While it worked it was fine. This year it started running (the fan as least) but I started to get a musty smell in my basement and the humidity level was reading sixty percent (I set it at forty). Finally inspected the machine and found it totally dry inside. After giving up on it I tore it apart and found severe rusting by the coils. I don’t think something designed to be wet all the time should be rusting. I bought another dehumidifier but it wasn’t a GE.

                      Heats Room
I have owned a 70 pint GE humidifier for three years and decided to purchase two more for other areas of the home. Much to my surprise the 70 pint was no longer available but this model was reflected as the replacement. Thinking it would work similarly, if not the same as, the previous model I purchased two. These units have removed some moisture but have ended up raising the overall temperature in the entire house by 5 degrees, after running them in conjunction with our 4 portable a/c units for the entire day. My 70 pint model blows slightly warmer air than the room, however no where near the same heat as the two new models. When we reached out to GE customer service we were advised this is normal but they can be returned to the vendor, which I am sure will be another battle. Do yourself a favor and forgo purchasing these units as they act more as a heater than a dehumidifier.

Bought 3, all broken just outside of warranty!
I bought three GE "ADEL50LW" from Home Depot. No wonder it's not carried anymore. Do they change the model # as soon as enough bad reviews show up? All three worked well for about 6 months. Then the tanks started filling up despite the hose being firmly attached. I drilled a hole in the tank and installed my own hose! That worked well for about another 6 months or so. I made sure to clean the filters as recommended by the manual. Just outside of the warranty, all three are completely dead. Oh, they make a racket and use a lot of electricity, but not one drop of water taken out of the air. I will never buy a GE dehumidifier again and suggest you learn from my mistake.

Hi there, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about the issues that you've had with your dehumidifiers. We can understand how this would be frustrating. We would not recommend making adjustments to your appliance's physical or electronic makeup as this could void your warranty. We hope that we can work hard in the future to earn your trust back. We're always here should you have questions or concerns. Best wishes. -Michael@GEA GE_Appliances

Failed after 9 months of service - AVOID
I purchased this GE Dehumidifier about 20 months ago and have used it for a approximately 9 months of service. It recently stopped dehumidifying after a coupe months of beginning to struggle to reduce humidity. I could hear the tell-tale "cracking" noise of ice forming, indicating that it was low on Refrigerant. Then could hear the compressor cycle off while the unit would defrost. I took it apart and found that the evaporator coils were freezing up due to low Refrigerant. I sprayed bubble leak detector on the evaporator and could see 2 spots where it was leaking. I've posted a picture - where you see it foaming is where it is leaking. I'm beyond disappointed that GE would produce such a low quality product and then only warranty it for 12 months. Until GE steps up and addresses this issue, I would recommend you avoid purchasing a GE Dehumidifier. And Home Depot should take a look at what's going on and stop selling these products.

                            Worked for 1 year
Worked great for a year. Then would only turn on fan and not pull any water from air. Shuts off after running fan for a little while. Beat reviews come after people own item for a while. Had I reviewed as soon as i bought it would have gotten 5 stars.

                              Please Read
My 2017 GE 70pt ADEL70LR, same internal components, has been running strong for 3+ years from May thru October each year. I bought the extended 3yr Warranty based on some horrible quality reviews, and I highly recommend buying that for $40ish just in case... Basically due to EPA standards all Dehumidifier manufacturers use cheap thin metal nowadays for better thermal transference, hence, more energy efficient. Of course this elevates profit margins too, but diminishes overall quality of all dehumidifiers... I believe my GE Dehumidifier has stood the test of time because: 1) I keep it clean 2) I don't fiddle with the buttons... I run it in Continuous Mode 1X a day until the bucket fills. That way it's Not Power-Cycling on/off during run time and power-jolting everything. I've proven that theory with 10 yr old strong running computers too by leaving them on all the time. This is truly a powerful dehumidifier; it fills the bucket in < 12 hrs on a humid day. It is rather on the loud side because of a strong fan, and changing fan speeds make little difference in noise level; I do not hear compressor noise, just fan. It'll get my medium sized basement from 50%+ humidity down to 35% in just a few hours. I also have an external humidy guage and it's spot on with the built-in GE humidity guage. I do recommend this powerful GE unit... just buy the Extended Warranty because it seems Home Depot's no question return policy isn't so great anymore. 1) Keep it Clean 2) Run it in Continuous Mode 1X a day until bucket fills. If you use drain hose just turn it off a few hours a day. 3) Make the exception for this dehumidifier and buy the extended Warranty. Take a picture of receipt too and email the pic to yourself if you're like me and lose the receipt after a month...
