Heats Room
I have owned a 70 pint GE humidifier for three years and decided to purchase two more for other areas of the home. Much to my surprise the 70 pint was no longer available but this model was reflected as the replacement. Thinking it would work similarly, if not the same as, the previous model I purchased two. These units have removed some moisture but have ended up raising the overall temperature in the entire house by 5 degrees, after running them in conjunction with our 4 portable a/c units for the entire day. My 70 pint model blows slightly warmer air than the room, however no where near the same heat as the two new models. When we reached out to GE customer service we were advised this is normal but they can be returned to the vendor, which I am sure will be another battle. Do yourself a favor and forgo purchasing these units as they act more as a heater than a dehumidifier.

Bought 3, all broken just outside of warranty!
I bought three GE "ADEL50LW" from Home Depot. No wonder it's not carried anymore. Do they change the model # as soon as enough bad reviews show up? All three worked well for about 6 months. Then the tanks started filling up despite the hose being firmly attached. I drilled a hole in the tank and installed my own hose! That worked well for about another 6 months or so. I made sure to clean the filters as recommended by the manual. Just outside of the warranty, all three are completely dead. Oh, they make a racket and use a lot of electricity, but not one drop of water taken out of the air. I will never buy a GE dehumidifier again and suggest you learn from my mistake.

Hi there, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about the issues that you've had with your dehumidifiers. We can understand how this would be frustrating. We would not recommend making adjustments to your appliance's physical or electronic makeup as this could void your warranty. We hope that we can work hard in the future to earn your trust back. We're always here should you have questions or concerns. Best wishes. -Michael@GEA GE_Appliances

      Garbage. Don’t buy!
I have purchased two of these units on separate occasions and both died after one year. The digital display is operational but compressor and fan no longer turn on when humidity climbs. I expected more from GE.

Registers humidity level about18% above what the level actually is!! Only know this because I have other humidistats in the area!! This is very annoying but I will not return it to Home Depot because my past experience with them has always been frustration!

So far so good... we run our dehumidifier all year...
So far so good... we run our dehumidifier all year long and day and night. It's very quiet and has helped very much with keeping humidity out of our basement. We run a hose from the unit right into our subpump drain tank. So we don't have to shut it off and pull back tank off to dump. Time saving and back saving. Wish they made a small size for tight spaces for apartments. Hopefully the quality of the work manship will last a long time. Our other one that was replaced by this one was over 10 years old. Now a days new small and big appliances don't last long.

          Good basement dehumidifier
Works well. I am using a drain hose with it so I don't change the bucket. I have the fan on low and it is keeping my basement at 40%.
