A: Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. We recommend you locate the complete model number of your refrigerator so you can double check to be sure the XWFE is the correct filter for your model. If it is, check the filter to see if the RFID chip is visible under the label. Try removing and reinstalling the filter and/or return this filter for aa replacement as there could be an issue with the filter. If the issue persists, we recommend service. If needed, you may call 1-800-432-2737 to schedule a service appointment with GE Appliances Service. We hope this is helpful. Kind regards - Vikki@GEAppliances
A: Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, the XWFE does have a RFID chip that provides Leak-Detecting Sensing Technology which enables the refrigerator to shut down the water valve when a leak is detected at the filter. We do hope this is helpful. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA

A: Obviously it wasn’t a genuine GE filter!
A: Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. Refrigerator filters don't have a "use by" or expiration date. Unopened and unused filters do not have a limited shelf life as long as they are stored in a dry location. We are glad you checked on this. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA
