Cheap Pressure Relief Valve & BAD DESIGN
DO NOT buy this filter unless you want a flooded house or you are willing to modify it to fix GE's engineering problems. The filter as a whole is fine and functions as expected until the cheap pressure relief valve breaks and there is water all over the place, inside of your sink cabinet and your kitchen is flooded. I don't even understand why a relief valve is needed. One would think there is a shut off valve before the filter which you turn off to stop the water pressure. And after the filter you would have a faucet or spigot you could turn on to relieve the pressure off of the filter body. Well in my case that's just the configuration I have and don't really need a cheap relief valve to cause problems. As I said the filter works just fine. So to replace it would just be a possible future problem or another flood. So to fix the problem since the pressure valve had already popped out and there was a hole in the filter body anyway. I drilled the hole large enough to tap it with a 1/4 in. -18 NPT Pipe Tap and installed a 1/4" plug with epoxy on the threads. PROBLEM SOLVED!! If GE wanted to make a quality product the port would come already threaded and you could either install a plug or a threaded pressure relief valve.

Easy installation, leak-free, and uses multiple 10" filters of your choice. I use this exclusively for my drinking and cooking water via a carbon-taste filter. 2nd picture shows my single faucet (also from Home Depot) directly plumbed from the filter unit. Excellent product(s).

I added this GE filter to the inlet side of the new ECOSMART tankless water heater I installed. It was very easy to install. I used Sharkbite fittings and hose to complete the install. I put the filter farther over to the right because it's easier to get at from there when we need to change the filters. This is in a 3 bed 2 bath 1200 sq ft home in Seminole, Florida. I don't notice any change in the water pressure with this filter. It does have plastic threads and I was a little worried about stripping them. I used Teflon tape and tightened it up and it's fine and no leaks. It's only been about a week, but so far we're very happy with this. May update as the time goes on or if we have any problems.

I purchased 2 of these housings to put under our kitchen sink. I put a GE FXWPC in the first housing and a GE FXWTC in the second housing. They were to feed the cold water in the sink and the refrigerator water & ice maker. Within a couple months the first housing leaked from the bottom. Unscrewing the base I found it cracked on the bottom. I just eliminated the housing and decided to go with one filter. Yesterday 2/15/18 I went to change the filter on the other housing and when I set the base down it fell over. Looking inside it is now cracked but wasn't leaking yet. These housings replaced housings that were put in, in 2004 but a different brand. They lasted 13 years, changed because the rubber O rings were shot. These GE housings lasted 1st 4 months, second 7 months. Water pressure is regulated at 55 pounds.

I put two of these, in-line from the well, to filter after the holding tanks. Easy install, no leaks. This would have been a 5 Star rating, if the threads were metal, instead of plastic. Take your time and use Teflon tape.
