Q:I want to seal a around a dryer vent. What is the service temperature of Great Stuff? I see data on storage temp of 131F Max. Dryer exhaust can be from 120 to 160F; according to Google. I want to use Window & Door so as not to deform the vent tube.

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Alan - All Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealants have a maximum use temperature of 240°F (116°C). The Great Stuff™ Gaps and Cracks would be best choice, there would little if any chance the foam would deform the dryer venting.

Q:Would this be sufficient to be used to fill a hollow core door to make it somewhat solid? My plan is to sound proof the door as much as possible without purchasing a solid core door.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Mark - No, Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealants are for sealing of small cracks and gaps. Injection of the foam into enclosed spaces, such as behind drywall or under tub surrounds; this improper use of the product could result in the accumulation of flammable vapors and/or uncured material. Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant require moisture that it pulls from the air to cure. Without the moisture, the foam will expand, but eventually it'll turn back into liquid. None of the Great Stuff™ would be suitable for this application.

Q:How do you remove the window seal from the windows

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Linda - The Great Stuff™ Window and Door goes between the rough opening and the window frame. If you got some on the window, acetone will dissolve it when it is uncured, but once the product is cured, it has to be mechanically removed by scrapping or sanding. This product is not a temporary product to be applied to the gaps around the window sash and window frame.

Not Happy trigger breaks you can't finish the can.
The trigger breaks and you can't use it. I bought 3 cans of this trigger broke on each one 1/3 way through the can the. IT LOOKS LIKE THE TRIGGER IS JUST BUILT TOO CHEAPLY. Tried to use them with a broken trigger BUT then the spout broke off of two, the other would come off and spray out all over. Caused more of a mess than it was worth. I had to quit and go get another type of foam. Great Stuff foam might be good, but the dispensers seem like Junk.

This stuff is very messy, sticks to everything. Glad I used gloves, it clogs the application tube almost immediately. Will not use this product again

Hello Ed - Thank you for sharing your concerns with us regarding Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered. Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant will seal itself shut if left sitting after use. Inserting a pipe cleaner sprayed with oil lubricant into the applicator straw may prolong the life of the product up to 30 days, however, it's better to plan ahead, identify, and list all possible applications before using the can. We also offer a newer Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant product with the Smart Dispenser™. This new dispenser allows for the reuse of the product for up to 30 days after first use. In addition to gloves we also recommend eye protection. DOW
