The label says 300 to 350 ft.², but all the blog posts I read said it was more like 200 to 250 ft.². The 250 ft.² was accurate for my driveway, but it was pretty pitted and rough so it’s soaked up a lot.

Not very well, you will want to pretreat the slippery spots, with dawn dish soap or something stronger. I used dawn and a pressure washer and that worked fine. Make sure you give the driveway time to dry before apply coating.

Definitely a rubber squeegee. Don't waste your time with a roller. Squeegee works perfect. Store the buckets upside down and stir with a stick when ready to use, then dump a gallon right on the asphalt from the bucket and squeegee. It is super easy. Don't paint yourself into a corner. lol

1/8" is not a problem, 1/4 inch or bigger I would use crack filler/driveway caulk first, then apply this stuff.

It's only been a week since doing my driveway. But product was as described easy to put down. My only complaint after applying ! I noticed half of my driveway was a flat black while the other half was shiny.( which looks better and i prefer) And yes i did stir.

Thanks for sharing your 5 STAR experience with Max 10. One thing that can affect sheen is the condition of the driveway. Smoother areas can appear shinier. Also, there can be a slight variation with a bucket from a different batch. Let us know if you have any questions about that. And thanks for choosing Max 10! www.gardnercoatings.com GardnerGibson

Applied today. Did about 1000 Sq ft with 5 buckets which is approximately 200 sq per bucket with one coat. Dried pretty fast with good black color. Product was good and easy to work with, not much mixing needed. Broom works better then squeegee but second coat will be needed since my driveway originally is very porous. Let see how long it will last , that is why only 4 stars So far I like this product.

Thanks Eric,
We always strive for a 5 star rating!
Coverage rates vary as the surface texture on driveways can cause much greater surface area than expected. Thanks for the comments, and we hope you would recommend our products to others.
Thanks. GardnerGibson

Thanks for the feedback. Yes all those crack and imperfections have a higher surface area to cover, so more product is needed at times. You will be happy with the results. GardnerGibson

visibly solid binding surface seal
I bought 45 pails of the 'drive seal 10" product for my driveway from Home Depot. As a side note I also bought a squeegee from Home depot for about 13$ that held up exceptionally well. I applied the sealer with no rain in sight and at temperatures between 50 to 70 degrees. My driveway was in dire need of resealing. I used a commercial outfit who cheated me, about two years ago applying something close to black water. There was a huge difference in what the surface looks like now with this seal 10 product. Make no mistake you MUST seal even hairline cracks in your driveway before starting the job! The instructions tell you to do so and they are not kidding. I pre-sealed every crack other then a few hairline cracks and the hairline cracks show through the sealer. It appears to me that this is some sort of surface bonding agent/sealer that creates a tight bond across the surface. Possibly it is the sand in the gel that doesn't seep well into tiny cracks. Be that as it may I am very pleased with the product. If you have a huge driveway like I do, and a driveway that is very broad in areas, I suggest that this be a two man project. Why? Because when you get into broad areas at warm temperatures, you will find that the over lapping areas create a visible seam - very apparent initially, less so after a few weeks. Why only 4 stars? I am a little skeptical that it will last for 10 years. Other than that skepticism, I would give this a strong 5 star rating. Hope this helps. P.S. Get ready to get dirty!!!!

Covered ~100 sf on 3 yo unsealed asphalt driveway. Was supposed to do up to 350 sf. Used 3x as much as I expected to. Expected two coats so finished 2/3 of driveway then had to order more and wait for delivery. Good product but very disappointed by how little coverage I got on a seasoned unsealed driveway.

This sealer costs more than some of the other sealer varieties offered at Home Depot, but I feel it was well worth the extra cost. I wanted a sealer with a longer life, and seeing Gardner's employees responding to reviews consistently told me that this company stands behind its products. Very happy with my purchase. I followed the instructions on the containers; the sealer is easy to apply and seems to be a high quality product. Would buy again and recommend to others.

I read a lot of the lower-star reviews, and can say I have not have any of those problems. 1. I filled all major cracks with Pli-Stix, and most of the smaller ones with a crack filler. Waited a couple of days for that to cure. 2. Edged the driveway to get all of the grass off of the shoulders. 3. Pressure washed the entire surface, rinsing well. Let dry overnight. 4. The day I used it was perfect - mid-80's with no rain in the forecast for 48 hours. 5. I turned the pails upside down and let them sit overnight. 6. I used a drill with a mixer on it to mix each pail. I would definitely recommend this to homogenize the contents. 7. Cut in the edges with a roofing brush to make the center go quicker and get a little extra on the edges. 8. Used a combination brush/squeegee (HD did NOT have these in stock the day I purchased the sealer???) Squeegeed according to the many videos out there showing how. Then went back with the brush, working it into the nooks and crannies. Then a VERY light touch with the squeegee to smooth out and get the lightest possible coat that actually covered the surface. 9. Second coat the same way. I got much better coverage on this coat, which makes sense, since most of the porous areas were already filled. 10. Waited 2.5 full days before driving on it. Finished Tuesday pm, Wednesday sunny and warm, Thursday rain, Friday pm drove across with no issues. Summary: I have never done this before, but this stuff worked like a dream. It's a gel, and it spread smoothly without being runny. This is only a few days in, mind you, and it's supposed to last 10 years, so we will see. If you follow the instructions and put in the prep time I don't see how you can go wrong with this.
