Product Overview

STA-KOOL+ 780 Elastomeric Pro White Roof Coating is a high quality, flexible, white acrylic roof coating. Product is enhanced with silicone for improved water resistance, adhesion and life expectancy. Product resists cracking and peeling, while offering tremendous durability and long term life. The coating forms a durable protective barrier which reflects the sun's heat and destructive UV rays. This product can help lower cooling costs in buildings that use air conditioning. This product will reduce the temperature of the roof surface, which lowers the amount of heat gain that penetrates through the roof surface. This allows cooling equipment to run more efficiently.
  • 87% Reflectivity: keeps roof surface cool
  • Expands and contracts up to 300% to resist cracking and peeling
  • Better hide and adhesion
  • Siliconized so finish stays cleaner longer
  • Professional grade
  • Please consider the weather when ordering this product, it may freeze in transit, making the product unusable

The roof I am recoating is asphalt tiles which have been sealed & coated with a different brand and has been an excellent product but is no longer made by the company for it was sold to another company and is now very pricey as well as hard to find around my locality which is very rural. I first bought Gardner's 7-year-Sta-Kool which was thinner than the previous product and also more difficult to spread and cover all the nook-n-crannies of the tiles, so since I had to order more product to finish my double-wide-mobile-home's roof (about 30' x 62') and I found this at Home Depot Online for less than I paid for the 7-year-longevity one, i decided to purchase this 10-year-longevity product. As anticipated, it is a bit thicker and even more work to spread it - before I was pouring about a half-gallon in a "S" pattern over an area and then trying to cover that whole area (about 5' x 5') but found that it was not feasible so then I just stuck my roller into the 5-gallon bucket (used an old clean empty one and poured half from the new bucket) like I would a paint pan and rolled it over an area about 3.5' x 2' when the temp was 74* and a nice breeze. It took 3/4 of the 5-gallon-bucket on 1/4 of the roof so sadly AGAIN I did not have enough to cover my entire roof! :-( and now that it is getting too hot to be up on the roof I will have to wait and order more or just call it good for this year with what I have done. I do know that it does keep the house about 10-15* cooler in the hotter month as well as in the cooler months. Originally the Snow Coat product that was used was recommended not for keeping our house cooler but for eliminating the roof leaks that over time had sprung up and we could not afford to totally replace the roofing and it has done that job very well so i hope this brand will do as well. After putting on the first coat we had a few heavy rain storms and there was only one small leak which I paid close attention to with the 2nd coat applied.

Made a big difference right away. Be ready for some spattering if you roll it.
Coated a 20 x 32 low slope rolled roof. The roof was installed a little over a year ago and this is the first time it was coated. Two 5 gallon pails were enough to do two coats with about a gallon left over. Word to the wise, the product is quite thick and using a 3/4 in roller there will be quite a bit of spatter. I should have expected that, but didn't. I chose this product because it had the highest reflectivity of the coatings under $100. The roof is noticeably cooler. I live in Key West. Before coating the roof was way too hot to touch by about noon. Now it gets a little warm, but you certainly wouldn't get burned touching it no matter the time of day. I would say this has made at least a 20-30 degree difference in the roof temp. I cannot comment on how well it seals as the roof is nearly new and I only coated it to make life a little cooler. I have no regrets about selecting the Sta-Kool Plus.

Purchased to recoat the Elite panels on the addition to my house. The is approximately 450 s/f of surface area. After a good powerwashing and spot caulking, I used a 4" brush to coat all seam tape and edges. After a day to dry, I followed up by rolling 2 coats of Sta-Kool+, applied perpendicular to each other and 24 hours apart. Product flows smoothly, and covered well. Even with 2 full coats, I had a bit left over in the 5 gallon pail. The job has only recently been completed, but it looks great. I'll return to re-rate if it doesn't hold up as well as advertised, but for now it made the roof look brand new.

Great product and exactly what I always use. The key is proper preparation of the roof surface. This is not a one-day job. I way I do it: Sweep the entire roof clean of debris. Wash the roof using a regular garden hose and string mop or stiff push broom. Let dry overnight. I like to reinforce roof edges using elastotape repair fabric in a 4 inch wide roll. I also use this around vents to reinforce where potential leaks can form and where the roof flexes most. It's helpful to put all the tools you will be using in a small box or bucket to take onto the roof with you unless you like chasing rolls of reinforcing fabric, whisk brooms, screwdrivers and other tools off the roof. Don't forget a can of bee spray because, believe me, they just love those vents. (After you get them out of the vents, cover the vents with a piece of pantyhose and the bees can't get back in next year). Using a paint brush apply Sta-Kool along the roof edge, then lay the repair fabric in it, and immediately paint over the fabric to embed it in the Sta-Kool. Working in five feet sections works great and prevents tangled fabric. Let dry overnight. Now begin coating the entire roof with Sta-Kool. I use an old paint roller on a broom stick. Pour the Sta-Kool into a paint pan (or if you forgot one like I did use a disposable aluminum baking pan). For the first coat roll one direction only (for example North to South). Tomorrow you will roll the other direction to overlap the coats. Remember to sweep loose debris off the roof every day prior to coating as you don't want to apply Sta-Kool over dirt, leaves and bugs. I re-coat every two years (just to be safe) and the only leak I ever had was from a nail hole from a previous home owner. I sealed the hole with liquid rubber, then put Sta-Kool over the top and it fixed it perfectly. Tip: To get every single bit of Sta-Kool out of the bucket use a rubber kitchen spatula (like you use to get cake batter out of the bowl). Works like a dream. To clean the roller rinse under cold running water, then use the sprayer attachment on the kitchen sink to get every last drop of Sta-Kool out so you can use the same roller for the entire job. Sta-Kool will make your house cooler, the roof looks so pretty and white (until the leaves stain it again) and it seals all those pesky cracks and peeled areas. I applied this in 89 degree heat with 28%-35% humidity so keep in mind higher humidity will increase drying time. Apply first thing in the morning and allow to dry all day. I weigh 106 pounds so I don't use a plank to stand on but please remember to use one to properly distribute your weight when on the roof to avoid damaging the dainty trussing in older mobile homes if you weigh more (and you probably do). I have a 1971 12x60 and a 1982 14x65. Two 5-gal buckets does edges and three coats on one mobile home. Use everything in the bucket because there's no point leaving something in the bottom to dry up. Good luck on your mission...

Did first coat with stakool 770 in 2013. With 4"roller, but mostly brushed on, to cover well, took longer. -- Worked well, home approx. 10degrees cooler in average summer heat of 100 in High Desert here. - Believe it also protected from the few but strong rains since then.-- For 1100sq.ft. home used then 6 buckets, delivered to my front door, which is good because I'm 61 & 5' person. - To get to roof, refilled them into 2gal. smaller paint buckets, easier to carry up the ladder! --- In June 2017 did 2nd coating, (when I could afford it), with improved stakool 780. - Got 5 buckets, delivered to home one by one, which covered my home w/garage roof of standard shingles well. - This time used 9" roller, and brush only on seams & small areas. - Was faster this time, just 2 days, few hours. - Am very pleased with result, looks clean & good, roof renewed for under $1000, as I couldn't afford a standard new roof for thousands, & proud I did it myself. - Had compliments from roofers who did a standard new roof next door, & questions from neighbors about stakool elastomeric product, what it does & where I got it. - Thou it wasn't recommended for asphalt shingle roof, in faith applied it on my roof, & for me personally it worked well, so far, after 4yrs., and have no negative thing to report. - Only see positive results! - God bless everyone, whatever you do!!!

My 17 year old mobile home roof was beginning to get a few rusty spots & upon closer inspection a 3 or 4 pinholes at the peak where the metal folds over. Also there was about a 6 inch split in the metal near the peak in one spot. Mobile home is 14X50 and I have a metal roofed addition that is 12X24 as well as a storage building metal roof that's 12X24. I ordered 4 buckets of the Sta-Kool+ 780 with 10 year warranty. I used rustoleum stop rust white spray paint to cover the rust spots & some black GE silicon II roof repair caulk to fix the pinholes & the split. Next day after sweeping roof off good I used a 3/4 Nap 9" roller and an extendable roller rod which allowed me to reach the roof from the central peak standing on plywood runners. I made a platform for the bucket to sit on by simply nailing a piece of 2X4 on one side of a small piece of plywood big enough for the bucket to sit on & let the plywood sit on the peak and the 2x4 rest on the slope for a level platform. I poured the Sta-Kool out & rolled it on pretty thin 1st coat but 2 days later laid on a second coat thick. I ended up having enough to put 2 coats on all my mobile home, addition, and even my storage building with 2 coats. Actually had enough left over to cover my back treated steps & patio & boy does it stick good. The inside temps have gone down drastically really noticable on the 80-95 degree days. Also the thin galvanized roof was really noisy with wind making it flop around but this Sta-Kool seems to have almost stopped that too which is another bonus from it which I never expected. I can't recommend this stuff enough if you are thinking about it think no more just order it and get it done, you won't be sorry.

I put stay-kool on my flat roof covered with roll roofing. I lpressure washed the roof and followed product directions with seams first then primary coat. then 2nd coat two days later. The coverage was as expected(I have an 52 x 48 ft. roof and used 9/ 5gal. pails) and application was easy with a roller. we haven't had rain yet but I am confident that there will be no leaking. I measured the temp. off the coating 145f vs 98f within 6 inches and on the sealed part so there should be very effective help cooling in our 110 degree summers.

This is an excellent product, spreads well, and is cheaper and works better than the Henry product with similar warranty. The depot is no longer stocking it so they can sell more inferior Henry, apparently.
