20 Amp Double-Pole Toggle Switch (1-Pack)

A:  I'm not an electrician so I'll answer as I understand it... In a double pole toggle switch you will have 4 poles. In the double pole you will have the current going in through one end of the double pole and coming out the other end of the double pole. Or you can also say it as having a negative and positive wire connecting to one side of the double pole and then another negative and positive wire connecting to the other double sided pole.

A:  A switch pole refers to the number of separate circuits that the switch controls. A single-pole switch controls just one circuit. A double-pole switch controls two separate circuits. A double-pole switch is like two separate single-pole switches that are mechanically operated by the same lever, knob, or button.

A:  If you mean you have wires with push on connectors, the switch will not work without modifying it. Or you can change the connectors on the wires to a ring or spade connector to utilize the screw connection. What I did was remove the screw from the connectors on the switch and then file the switch connector so it had the correct width and thickness so the push on connector on the wires would slide onto the terminal.

A:  You can either remove the screws and solder the wires in place OR you can simply wrap the wire in a CLOCKWISE direction around the screws and tighten them to hold the wire in place. NOTE: you will have to file the burr off of where the threaded hole is in order for the connector to slide on.
