AnswersPut inline on the positive side. Just make sure application is unplugged while working in it and if you don't use the on/off plate that you orient switch so it toggles to "on" in the direction you want.

AnswersNo, the switch is not waterproof. It is reasonably waetherproof, but moisture and dust will eventually get into it.
