15 Amp Outdoor Smart Wi-Fi Plug, Black

Very easy to setup and nice app for scheduling, I am happy with it

This is a compact Wi-Fi outdoor plug. It is too large to fit in a protected weatherproof enclosure, so it is weather resistant. It is programmed via Bluetooth and works only over 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi. You do need internet access to use the device as you have to log into the app. There is a place to hang the box with a screw, or use a cord to hang the unit somewhere. Both don't seem very practical based on how i have weatherproof outlets outside my home and the length of the pigtail is rather short. Also, the indicator light is very bright and easily seen from a distance. I'm not sure how I could conceal the light and secure the unit from being seen and stolen. Maybe just put some electrical tape over the light? The device works well enough, but in combination with the app and needing internet access for scheduling, it seems limited if my network goes down and it can't reach the server for the schedules. Because of this, I would not rely on it for anything important. It also took 12 tries to register for an account with the app, It would refuse to recognize my finger presses on my tablet. You can share the device with family, assuming they also have their own accounts and use the app from other devices. Not what I was expecting.

Great addition to our growing collection of smart home products. We are using this on our outdoor string lights. Super easy set-up and instructions. And if you are familiar with Alexa, you can easily add this product after the set-up. Love the off/on button, so I can turn on/off our lights by the source without a smart phone/speaker. Small design and doesn't take up much space. Completely meets my expectations. Detailed pictures of the box and device attached for more info.

This is a really neat way to add a power switch outdoors. I wanted to hang a string of lights outside over my smoker and grill, but I didn't have a convenient way to switch the lights on and off. This smart plug is easy to use and works surprisingly well. I plugged it into an extension cord, and then plugged in my outdoor light string. Installing the Geeni app on my iPhone was quick and easy, and it detected the Smart Plug. Now, I just open the app on my phone and tap the power button to turn my outdoor lights on and off. The Smart Plug is surprisingly responsive--there is virtually no lag between pressing the button on my phone and the light turning on and off. It's impressive. I didn't expect it to work this well, but it has worked flawlessly. The app has a timer where you can have the Smart Plug turn on or off automatically after a period from 1 minute to 24 hours. It also lets you set multiple schedules to turn the plug on and off at specific times during each day of the week. If you have lights or other electrical items that you want to control but don't have a power switch for them, I think this is a great option.

As has been the case with all Geeni products I've used, setup was super straightforward. I had it unpackaged, setup and working with Alexa during the time it took my oven to preheat. I'm using this plug to control the string lights on my deck, but since it's programmable, you could easily use this to run a sprinkler system, Christmas lights, etc. I've used smart products/apps from 4 or 5 different companies, and I must say, so far Geeni has been the most reliable. I love that it doesn't require a hub and the app is very user friendly and reliable. Great product!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this wifi-controlled plug, but have been pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up and program. It's weather resistant, not waterproof. It can handle up to 15 amps, way more than my pond pump needs. It came with a quick start guide and was supposed to include a voice control guide, but I didn't find that in the box. I found the voice instructions on the manufacturer's web site. The wifi works on 2.4GHz b/g/n networks. The IOS app automatically detected the plug and requested the wifi password. Other wifi home devices I've used require temporarily connecting to bluetooth or a device-specific network as part of the configuration, but this one didn't - kudos to them. I did have to create a Geeni account on the app to allow me to control it from outside the house. There's a button and indicator light on the plug. The button lets you manually turn the plug on and off, or reset it. The light shows on/off/setup mode. I set it up with Alexa and it worked OK, but I'm not sure I'm going to be telling Alexa "turn on the pond". I set up a schedule in the Geeni app instead. The app lets me turn the plug on and off manually or schedule it to turn on and off by day of week, hour, and minute. There's a one-shot timer function that will change the state after a specified time up to 24 hours. If it's on I can set the timer to turn it off and vice versa. The app also allows for scenes to be set up. First a condition to trigger the scene is selected. This condition can be based on several items: temperature above/below/equal 32-104 degrees by degree humidity low/middle/high (no numeric values) weather sunny/cloudy/rainy/snow/unhealth air quality good/moderate/unhealthy sunrise/sunset a device turning on or off Then a set of devices are selected to be operated on when the condition occurs. This allows for an extreme range of options for control, but one condition I found missing was "time". I wanted to set it to turn on a light at sunset and off at midnight,but I couldn't figure out how program that at the moment. One other thing to note is that the way the cord leaves the plug any outlet below it will be blocked.

These wi-fi plugs are so handy especially when you are needing to turn something off and on. The plugs save time by a tap on your smartphone and save you the trouble of getting up and walking a good distance to unplug something.

It should work, it just doesn’t. Does not connect to WiFi. Both devices have the same problem so it is not just one faulty device. I followed the online troubleshooting steps with no success. My other devices connect without issue.
