It is advisable to install a sediment trap next to appliances , heaters, water heaters etc. Simply unscrew bottom cap on this trap and connect a brass fitting that has a spiked hose tip temporarily to rubber hose, then adjust as needed . When finished remove the adapter and cap the vertical pipe.

When measuring the pressure (say 11 WC) should the measurement be taken with burner at full flow ...

Ok, there are two opposing answers. When they say the operating pressure is 11 WC, then it makes sense to me that the measurement should be at operating conditions or...FULL FLOW. However the manufacturer (General Tools) says to take the measurement at no flow. Could both contributors please explain why they gave their answer? Thanks

1/8 fine thread, but irrelevant because you use the the hose barb and hose to attach to pressure regulator long enough to set the pressure, and then cap it off with factory cap.

will this tool work for measuring gas pressure of inches in water column

Worked absolutely perfect. Our pool heater upgrade to 4000 BTU required a 2 lb. gas pressure upgrade at home and larger meter. Then a regulator next to pool heater. This gauge allowed me to adjust the new regulator 200 feet away from meter to optimum pressure once reading instructions on regulator website. Worked great!!

The connection at the gauge to attach the hose is way too small. It is very difficult to attach the hose and it won't stay connected. I would not recommend this product.
